I have heard one can not use a tripod or even a monopod to do videos at Ephesus or Pergamum? Is this true? What are the regulations on camera or video use when visiting the Christian archaeological sites? I am concerned about my upcoming trip to western Turkey since I heard this rumor.
Hi there, we are travelling to Turkey mid may to early June with our 5 and 2 year sons. It will be our first time. We want to do 5 days in Istanbul and then i had thought about flying to Izmir and doing Ephesus with them for a day or so and then stay around the coast there for the remaining 5 days. Will it be boiling hot then? I am conscious that we don't want the kids out in the baking sun at Ephesus and that we will have a buggy with us for our youngest. I know they will more than likely get bored but if i can mix up Ephesus with beach days then it shouldn't be too painful. Both my husband and I have been to Pompeii and i think it is similarly spectacular. What places/towns along the coast would you recommend that has lovely sandy beaches but is not too built up/touristy/filled with cruises. We won't be travelling as part of a tour and we would hire a car at Izmir to get us around.
Thanking you for suggestions in advance.
We are a group of 5 (3 adults and 2 children), reaching Bandirma from Istanbul (end March) by the morning ferry. I can get online tickets for the ferry to Bandirma. But I am not able to buy the tickets from Bandirma Gar to Alsanack...the website, though in English is not very user friendly. Are the trains operational? Do we buy the tickets directly at the railway station at Bandirma Gar...? Any responses will be much appreciated. We are travelling end March.
How many buses run from Mardin to Sanliurfa a day?Anyone have the bus timetable? How could I book tickets in advance?Because the lonely planet wrote that buses from Mardin to Sanliurfa are always full, better buy tickets days before. But I have a tight itinerary, must leave for Sanliurfa on the next day I arrive at Mardin. Is there any info to contact bus company or tour agents in Mardin?
I will be visiting Istanbul from 26 to 31st of March and I will be staying in hotel in Taksim, I heard that there will be elections at the end of March 2014, so I wonder if it's going to be fine to stay there by 31st or shall I prepare myself for some action.
There is a chance we may be relocating to Izmir for a few years, which is very exciting, but I run my own business from home & rely heavily on good fast internet access.
Can anyone let me know what the Internet access / speed is like in the residential areas of Izmir.
I am looking for suggestions as to grouping things to do to get the most out of my days.
Topkapi Palace/Blue Mosque/Sofia Mosque/Basilica Cistern/Fort of the Seven Towers/Grand Bazaar/Boat to Asia Minor Bosphorus/hippodrome of Constantinople/Archeological museums/
Cappadocia: Gerome open air museum/Kaymakli underground city/Red valley///
Any suggestions will be appreciated
A friend and I are traveling to Bodrum in late March for a few days. Can anyone tell me what clubs/bars will be open then? Also looking for recommendations on what hotel to stay at. We'd like a place close to some clubs/nightlife but not too close which also serves breakfast. We are also wanting to visit Pamukkale. Do the buses even travel there during late March?
I have a Kenyan Passport but I have a residence permit for the UK. Do I have to travel by Turkish Airline or can I travel by any budget airline? As on their website it says that I have to travel by Turkish Airline. I have already booked a package holiday to Antalya.
