Cheap backpacker accommodation near the beach!

My bf and I are coming to the Gold Coast in Nov/Dec for 7 days. On a tight budget so want to find a cheap backpackers that is close to everything! Any recommendations? We've been looking at NOMADS Islander Backpacker Resort at 6 Beach Road, Surfers Paradise. Has anyone stayed here before?
