Best and cheapest way to Travel

by NazQ Online Now Mar 26, 2013 at 9:32 AM

Hi,
I might visit the Gold Coast region in May 2013 and wanted to know what the best and of course cheapest way to travel is? I will be there for at least 7 days. I have checked out buses, trains, scooters and car hire.
However, actual experience would help :)
Thank you

You had best let us know what country's 'gold coast' you're talking about, since a number of countries have what they call a 'gold coast'.

If in Queensland and you are on your own, I would say the Bus. Public transport is good on the coast and will take you the whole length, right to the New South Wales border and to all the Theme Parks.
For the hinterland, you can take a tour or you would have to hire a car. Fuel is expensive. It is worth visiting.
If you want to go to Brisbane, then the Public bus will take you to the Train station and from there Train to Brisbane.

Depends where you want to travel to! The cheapest is always pushbike. If you bought a second hand one you can go anywhere around Surfers-Coolangatta on a bike because it's flat. Cheers, Ian

    Hi,

I thought I was posting under the Australia forums therefore I didn't mention the country.

    Thanks. Biking seems like fun.
I might travel with my husband; he wouldn't find it much fun though :)

I might be travelling with my husband. I figured maybe car might be cheaper overall as it would be two of us and would give us flexibility as well. What do you think?

I always like car because of the flexibility. They are quite reasonable to hire on the coast. You will only need a small economical one.

The Gold Coast is quite a long strp of coast. While bikes might be practical to ride around one suburb for example, they not would be practical if you wanted to go, say, from Coolangatta to Surfers. Buses are good along the coastal strip, but to get to the hinterland, or perhaps to visit Byron Bay, a car would be easier. There are quite a few budget car rental compaies in the area.

A bus is handy so is the train if your staying close to the "get on point" if not, hire a car!
