Is 15th June working day in Göttingen?

by ostia Online Now Mar 20, 2006 at 4:57 AM

Is 15th June working day in Göttingen? My friend will study in Göttingen, I would like to visit her when she will not have to be at university. I know that 15th June is a kind of holiday in some areas of Germany but don't know about Göttingen. Thank you for your help!

In Baden-Württemberg (where Göppingen is) 15th June 2006 is a public holiday (Corpus Christi).

Sorry - just answered a question about Göppingen. But you asked for Göttingen. Here the answer is no. Göttingen is in Lower Saxony and there Corpus Christi is not a public holiday. There are no public holidays in Lower Saxony between Pentecost Monday and the Day of Reunification (3rd October).

One should not answer question while doing other things at the same time. The answer is YES - it's a working day in Göttingen.

Thanks. According to http://www.feiertage.net/frei-tage.php it is not a holiday. Two other VT member said it's not a holiday. So I'm confused.

I remember well these days... when it is a holiday in nearby Hesse, you suddenly have this massive influx of philistines from Kassel blocking the parking spaces and infesting the shops and streets ;)
