Hi Everyone! Well, lucky us, my husband and I just bought a car and are taking delivery of it from the factory in Sweden. Since we'll be so close, does anyone know how easy/difficult it is to get to Oslo from Göteborg? I was looking at my map and saw a ferry line between the two cities...does this require a reservation or anything? I've never taken a ferry before, so I appreciate all the help! Also, would that be worth it? Thanks! Paula : )
Hi Paula Try this link: www.stenaline.com Good luck with the car :-)

I do not know about the ferry from Göteborg to Oslao but there is an excellent road connecting both cities.I recommend to visit also the one or other place at tthe coast, Bohuslän coast and the islands are very attractive and highly recommendable See my pages "Västra Götalands län" and "Tanumshede" for that and the Halden page.

Thanks for the responses! My only real concern right now is time...my husband has a limited time off from work and so our trip into Norway will probably not be for more than one day. I'll look into your suggestions! Thanks! Paula : )

There is no ferry from Göteborg to Oslo (the Oslo ferry is from Copenhagen/Helsingborg) but there is a ferry to Kristiansand. That's the DFDS Scandinavian Seaways to Newcastle which stops in Norway for duty free reasons. Apart from that, there is also a ferry from Strömstad further north, to Sandefjord, but that would not save you any time. As already said, the E6 motorway is the best way from Göteborg to Oslo - especially in a new car.

Oh wow, I guess I need to look at my map again! Thanks for the great info. I will, of course, want to spend some time breaking in the new car, so making the drive sounds like the best option. Thanks again! Paula : )

You're welcome! I forgot to tell you that it is around 330 km so it's not THAT far for two oblong countries like ours :-)
