What is the life really like in Glounthaune. I want to be as close as possible to Cork City, need to know what's in Glounthaune, want to be able to travel to & from the city using public transport & am hoping I will find a suitable holiday let.
Glounthaune is a kind of a residential area with a lot of housing , shop pub , church & school. Not a lot to do there without going to the city. The Midleton train line runs once an hour and there is also a train line to Cobh/ Cork passing through Glounthaune . Fota wildlife park is a short train ride ( on the Cobh line ). There is also a golf course at Fota and the Elm tree is a nice place to go for lunch. Midleton is another town worth a visit , its got the distillery , farmers market next to Supervalue on a Saturday morning. I do't know of any holiday lets in Glounthaune itself , but I do know one at Leamlara, about 5 miles from the Carrigtwohill train station or Jacobs Island looking across the harbour at Glounthaune
