My husband and I are driving to Portland to visit our son, staying with him in Portland for 5 days and spending a weekend in the Astoria area. Then we plan to drive into Canada to the northern part of Glacier and make our way south through the park and then back to KC. We have 7-8 days to do this part. Is this a realistic time line to spend in the park? We are planning to camp while in the park but not sure about the logistics for this. Can we camp in a couple and of different sites and access the park from there? Any suggestions where we should stay and areas we want to make sure we see? I have looked online and ordered information but specific reccomendations would be very appreciated.
Which route do you plan to take? I-84 east and then go north throug Spokane and then through northern Idaho? Go north out of Portland to Vancouver, BC and then east? South on highways 93 (the same number on the Canadian and US side of the border) to the west end of the park, or south on the east side of the park using US 89?

Apologies if you already know this but do be aware of the proper documentation you'll need both for entering Canada and re-entering the U.S. I only mention that as the newer requirements have caused some confusion for U.S. citizens who have previously traveled to Canada but haven't done so for a number of years.

Not sure if the amount of time you are allotting is reasonable, since I'm not sure what is meant by "KC"? Which Glacier park are you planning to visit, Glacier Nat'l Park in British Columbia Canada, or Glacier Nat'l Park in Montana USA? The Canadian GNP is situated along the TransCanada (#1) highway, between Golden and Revelstoke, BC. The American GNP is situated along the Canadian border, just south of Waterton Lakes National Park in Alberta, Canada. I am quite familiar with both areas, and would be happy to offer some advice, just need a little more info.
