Travel from Girona Airport to Platja D'Aro

by todmordenfred Online Now Oct 7, 2010 at 11:11 AM

Booked a lst min all inclusive holiday to the costa on an allocation on arrival deal. Just been allocated Platja Park in Platja D'Aro and told transfare is not included in our booking. Looked on resort hoppa site to find that the cheapest reurn for two of us is £120.. Ouch thats more than the flights.
Is there a better, cheaper way for us to get to the hotel? We land on 10/10/2010 at 19:50, and we fly out on the 17/10/2010 at 14:35.

Any help with this would be very very appreciated.

It looks like there is a bus from GIRONA Estació leaving at 20.45 and getting to PLATJA D'ARO at 21.30 on a Sunday evening. That seems to be the last bus on a Sunday. So it may be too late????
On return there is a bus from Platja D'Aro that leaves at 0945 and gets to CALDES DE MALAVELLA at 10.30 from where you can take a taxi according to the above web site. Or the same bus continues to Girona Estacion getting in at 10.50.

    Thats' my quick finding.

Maybe somebody could recommend a local cheaper taxi service?

Platja d'Aro is about 40 km from GRO airport, so if you take a taxi (there will be waiting fro passengers) it should not cost more than 50€ each way. You don't need to book a transfer.
If your flight arrives on time and you only have hand luggage, you should be able to get the 20:30 bus, GRO airport is very small.

Yeah, I think abus may be too late on arrival, and a taxi probably the better option. Will have a large holdal with myself but girlfriend will have a medium size suitcase.

Any recomendations on taxies then I suppose

Ended up getting one of the many taxies from outside the airport arrivals area. Cost €46 as it had a €6 addition on it for Sunday evening.
Had the hotel book us a return as when we asked the taki who took us to the hotel for a card or a number he just pointed to hotel and said they would arrange a taxi. That was a mistake as the hotel used a local taxi firm who they must use for all guests wishing taxies. That cost us €50, and it was mid-day.

All in all, still a lot more expensive than a local UK taxi would charge for a half hour drive, but if there are 4 of you sharing, its a much better option than of getting a resort hoppa coach and having to possible change coaches or spending forever doing dropoffs in other resorts.
