Santa Susanna Costa Brava.

Is it possible to travel by train from Girona to Santa Susanna. I know a rail line runs through the town of Santa Susanna going to Barcelona but its not the direct line that links Girona and Barcelona. Failing that is there a bus service from either the Girona airport or the bus station to Santa Susanna. Alternatively a rental car but I have seens a post saying that its not recommended, WHY ??? The roads appeared reasonably good on out last visit and its only about 35Kms. Thank you for any advice.
