Is it feasible to travel to Gilgit, Hunza etc. with family of 2-3 children during June-July? what is the update on Attabad lake?
Bonjour from Chitral, Last year, it took some 20 hrs to reach Gilgit from Rawalpindi, the road is under maintenance so as the road to Hunza. There is a boat service across Atabad lake so you can reach Passu from there. June, July, the best time to be there, due to very pleasant weather conditions. Bon voyage ..

The trip is perfectly feasible however as mentioned above this is a long drive, but completely worth it. If you are going by road then NATCO buses are my preferred transportation. There is a flight from Islamabad also, highly uncertain though due to weather and peculiar rules. I understand that Attabad lake is upstream from Hunza valley and one has to cross only in case they wish to go further up North. Personally, I would definitely recommend the trip especially if you already have been to the Kaghan valley. Regards Muzzammil

Bonjour from Chitral, I agree with the post above, NATCO is the best option to travel on KKH, very convenient buses. The main hurdle was Atabad lake but now it's been turned into a boat safari in the highlands of Hunza so I hope you'd enjoy that in order to reach Passu. Good luck ..
