      Hi!
Just moved to Gibraltar, so don't know my way around yet.
Does anyone know where I can take passport photos, either here in or in La Linea?
And if anyone has any additional useful information or tips for newcomers, that is welcomed as well!

      Thanks!

      Day trip by boat?

      Gibraltar Feb 24, 2013 at 1:20 AM

We´ll be in the vicinity of Gibraltar and would lilke to make a day trip, but I understand it takes a long time to cross the border by car for whatever reason. Could anyone help with an advice how to reach Gibraltar and visit for a few hours without excessive queing at the border. Is it possible to park the car in La Linea de la Concepcion and then walk over, or take a boat/public bus etc? Thanks!

      Gibraltar Jul 18, 2012 at 10:18 AM

I am loooking for a return taxi from Malaga airport to Gibraltar for approx 3 persons. When searching online taxi companies give quotes for £120 one way, this is outside our budget. Does anyone know of anyone that provides this service to/from Gibraltar or a taxi share scheme/forum? There must be something. Thanks.

What type of ID do you need to cross over the border from Spain to Gibraltar? For a day stay is it cheaper and safe to stay in La Linea as opposed to Gibraltar itself? Thanks for your help.

      Gibraltar Mar 30, 2012 at 12:54 PM

Thanks for the replies to my previous question. With regard to the border, do they just sort of wave you through or is it a take-your-shoes-off/tip-you-bag-out/strip-search type interogation checkpoint (like going through the airport has unfortunately become)? If I stay outside the border I don't fancy that every time I want to a walk into Gibraltar? Also I forgot to say before, myself and my cousin who I will be travelling with are both female (both 30). Is going through the border area 'safe' for women travellers? Bearing in mind it may be sort of 10/11ish at night? Also, does the border close at night. I'd hate to be stranded! Thanks Kay

    • Gibraltar Hotel or one over the border?

      Gibraltar Mar 30, 2012 at 1:38 AM

Hi, We're planning on visiting Gibraltar for 3 days (2 nights) in April, however, I've not been impressed with the reviews of the (four!) hotels in Gibraltar. Three of the reviews are pretty poor and the other hotel is out of our price range. I'm therefore considering getting a hotel just over the border as they seemto be much cheaper and of a higher quality and wondered if anyone had done this or could say whether it's a good idea? I'm assuming you have to show your passport to cross the border. Would this be time consuming? (we would be on foot not in a car). Is it possible to walk into Gibraltar from across the border (sorry, I've no idea of the scale of the town) or would we need to use public transport. unofortunately the (limited number of) guidebooks don't cover anything on this so wondered if anyone had perhaps done this and could say whether it would be a good idea? Thanks Kay

    • Gibraltar or Malaga for a 3 day city break?

      Gibraltar Feb 23, 2012 at 10:42 AM

Hello, I am not sure whether to choose Gibraltar or Malaga for a 3 day city break. Both are the approximately the same price etc, but I know very little of either city and wondered if anyone could perhaps give their thoughts on one or either of them as a city break destination? By the way we're a couple in our mid 30's. Look forward to hearing from someone! Nikki

    • reputable taxi or tour service

      Gibraltar Sep 1, 2011 at 6:27 PM

We will be in Gibraltar only one day as a stop on a cruise ship. Want to stay away from tours offered by ship. Looking for either a good taxi driver or mini bus operator to tour us. Husband is a WWII buff and would like to take in big gun and tunnels, and anything else related to that war. I'm intrested in the prehistoric caves, where a Neanderthal was found, I believe, or at least evidence of prehistoric peoples was found;cave paintings. Definitely NOT interested in the apes. Any suggestions or advice to find a reputable tour service and places not to miss within about a 6 hour timeframe is greatly appreciated. I'm told there are plenty of taxis around the dock -- true? How do I get a good one and what is a fair price?
