We just booked are tickets to Fortaleza/Milan. We are pretending to rent a car to do the south of Germany until Munique. We would like to stay some days in a nice esqui area, and some days in Munique and in other city that is really interesting in the winter time. We are ariving in Milan at the 31st. and leaving back to Brazil on the 14th of January. We are in 4 adults and 5 teenagers, we don't want any thing cheap, but of course not very expensive hotels or esqui areas. What city/towns, adventure, site seeing we should not leave out of our intinerary.
You could spend some days in Trentino Alto Adige. It's the region where I live. Here you can visit Trento, Bolzano and some other interesting towns and villages.

It might sound very silly, but do you have experience driving in snow conditions? You want to ski, so I assume that you have. But... even with your party of 5 teens and 4 adults I am wondering if it might not be better to travel "from Italy to Germany" by train. I mean from for example Milano to for example Munich. Good skiing areas are in Innsbruck: innsbruck-pauschalen.com/en/... in Kitzbühel (that is fantastic, I "grew up" there when it comes to skiing): http://www.kitzbuehel.com/en/ (there is a Spanish version but no Portugese) The skiing area is here: http://skimap.kitzalps.com/ (maybe you have to click on English at the bottom left). But these are Austria. In Germany it might be Garmisch-Partenkirchen: http://www.zugspitze.de/en/winter/ with Zugspitze. I think a good overview you can get here: j2ski.com/ski_resorts/German... and then click on the ski resorts for detailed information of how big it is, how many slopes, how easy/difficult etc. This for example is what they write about Garmisch-Partenkirchen: j2ski.com/ski_resorts/German... Ingrid :-)

In southern Germany there is Garmisch-Partenkirchen, which is a ski area and has enough to keep everyone busy. In perfect road conditions (i.e. no snow), it would be about a five hour drive from Milan, then from G-P to Munich would be another hour or so. As trekki suggested, you may want to consider the train, especially if the weather and road conditions are not good since that route means going through the Alps. There is a train station in the center of G-P, close to hotels, which also goes up to Munich. I've been to this town several times and enjoy it each time I go - "weekend in Garmisch-Partenkirchen" - Garmisch-Partenkirchen by brendareed While in G-P, weather permitting, you may want to go up to the top of the Zugspitze, the highest point in Germany. I only recommend this on a clear day, when you can see the tops of the Alps for a long distance. Brenda

With 9 people in your group you would need 2 cars especially with luggage for that number. I would look at group tickets for the train instead of driving, you would have no concerns regarding parking or driving in winter conditions. The Italian website for rail is called Trenitalia, I,m not familiar with using this website but other VT,ers will help you with looking at their train timetables and so on. The Bavarian Alps are stunning, I also like GarmischPartnkirchen very much. You would need to book accommodation very soon. Munich is one of my favorite places, this is also a mecca for tourists so I,d book Hotel rooms there as well. You can do all these on the internet, hotel.com is popular as is Venere.
