Can someone let me know if there is a bus service from Hohenswangau to Rotenburg? Websites provide a lot of information on romantic road by coach, but this comes in a package. I am just looking for bus ride, without hotels etc.

I believe that there is no public transport between these two picturesque towns. i, too have spent some time searching for information and like you could find nothing. Usually bus routes are for local people and we must ask ourselves 'why should locals travel between these two places' and that is why there does not seem to be a bus

These distances are too far for local buses. Transfers must be done by train. Rothenburg ob der Tauber (please use the correct spelling or you'll end up in the wrong place) is at the end of a side line, so this involves a couple of changes, though.

There's a new bus line starting up this year by Eurolines which runs the Romantic Road from Fussen to Frankfurt every day from April to October. It's a "hop on/hop off" service. It goes through Rothenburg ob der Tauber and Hohenswangau.

The situation in Germany changed this year. Previously the only buses you could get were local ones. But now national bus services are allowed and you can travel all over - sometimes to places that aren't served by trains.

One bus daily. Hohenschwangau dep 08:05 Rothenburg ob der Tauber arr 15:50. And this bus continues Rothenburg ob der Tauber dep 16:35 Frankfurt arr 20:00. Hohenschwangau to Frankfurt is EUR 108. Stopovers are possible.
Travelling by public transport you have more frequent connections. But you'll have to change a few times.
