Hi - I am just starting to research Georgia (and finding that adding Caucasus does help me get out of the southern United States!) So I will start with my two most important questions. First, are their big or even small but nice traditional dance and music festivals? the tradition is spectacular, after all....I can suffer for art, so if it is in a hot steamy place but important, I can go - Secondly, monuments and natural sites can be visited of course any time. I gather that in the summer in the mountains it is nice, but otherwise can be quite hot. Are there cooler places with great architecture, etc? What would be the crowded summer places to avoid? Thanks,Jean
Any suggestions? Bus, taxi? Rates and awailabillity.

Where in Georgia (preferrably in Batumi) can I buy GPS map of Georgia? How much GEL is it? As I know (from websites) the map is available but exclusively in Georgia (no possibility to download the map). Well, I've already found webpage: http://www.geoland.ge But it’s mostly in Georgian language which unfortunately I don’t know. Could you help me, please? My question is where in Batumi (or Tbilisi) can I buy the GPS map for Garmin (in which market/shop – address and at which day/hours it’s open) and how much (GEL) it is? What’s the name (in English and Georgian) of the map I need?
Hi I will be in Kazbegi in september for 1 night and I would like to know where to sleep, could you recommend a nice place? Thanks Victor
Hi all) Who's going to visit Georgia in this summer?:) or maybe going in Batumi?:)) And also write where are you going from?:)
hi, my friend & I are going to Georgia for two weeks. we really want to hike in the mountains (by foot, or do a part by jeep ot car) and find local guesthouses to stay with, to meet the georgian culture. we'll arrive in Georgia in a week and haven't planned the hike-part of the trip yet. heard that maybe its better to take a local guide for the traks. and what part of georgia is better for that? what do you say? any advises will help a lot. thanks!
I am travelling with my husband and two daughters and we want to go hikin in the Caucausus. Any advice on how to organise an english speaking guide locally and how much? The lonely guide book says it can cost up to650 a person for four days which sounds incredibly expensive? Also where woudl we go for , say 5 days?
So, im going this summer in tbilisi with my daughter to meet our relatives. Last time we had lots of things to do in the city, but now she is grown and in teenage. im a bit worried, that she will get bored. What could underage teenager do in tbilisi?
Hi Guys, I am heading to Tbilisi for Easter and was wondering what are the best bars at the moment? I am heading there with 2 english friends but it would be great to meet some Tbilisi Virtual Tourist members so if anyone wants to join us for beers, let me know. Justin
Have a departure at 05:30 in may '12, is the airport open all night, really does not seem to be worthwhile booking a hotel for that one. Thanks for your help!
I am arriving in Tbilisi in a few weeks. I really wanted to go to Eastern Turkey but the news from that region is troubling so I am (grudgingly) going to Georgia and maybe Armenia instead. I bought a Lonely Planet guide but people seem to feel it is inaccurate in terms of prices. I have already booked a hostel online for one night and though I could scout out other options once on the ground. Does this seem reasonable? I want to be by the old town and old stuff..which area of the city should I look for accomadation in? What is the current price of a meal in a non touristy place for regular people? Also what about sexual harassment? Is there any problem for a woman traveling alone? thank you!
I will be arriving in Tbilisi at 12:15 PM. Are there any mashrutkas to Yerevan after that time (for example at 1 PM or 2 PM), or will I need to wait until the next day (I do not want ot take a night mashrutka). If I am too late for the last mashrutka, is it possible to get a mashrutka to the border, then cross, and get another mashrutka on the Armenian side of the border that will go to Yerevan ?
I'm planning a trip to Batumi and Sarpi in mid-September. Is the sea still swim-able then? What's the weather like, and what's the latest that it's still enjoyable to swim in the Georgian Black Sea?
An internet search shows two different addresses for the Azerbaijan Embassy in Tbilisi. I guess one is the old address, and one is the current one. Can anyone tell me what the current address of the Azerbaijan Embassy in Tbilisi is ?
Can anyone direct me to a website that has the train schedule (airport to city) on it ? If it is not on the Internet, does anyone know at what time trains go from the airport to the city in the night (between 3 AM and 8 AM) ?
Can anyone recommend a travel agent in Tbilisi that can book accommodation for me in Azerbaijan and get the required documentation for an Azerbaijan visa ? The latest thing I've heard is that the Azerbaijan Embassy in Tbilisi is now requiring the hated Letter of Invitation. If anyone knows differently, please let me know - the info I have was as of around June 2011.
Is the beach nice in Batumi? Would you recommend going there? How is the water in September?
Hi, I'm looking for a bike rental in Tibilisi which provides bikes suitable to ride with panniers Thanks for exact info Tomek
I am looking for any info on traveling through Uzbek, Khazak, Tajik, Georgia, Azerbhaijan, Turkhmenistan & Krygyz during Ramadan 2011. Any interconnecting land transport would be helpful. What to expect and how safe is it to travel by road? Is it better just to go from capitol to capitol? Am I missing out a lot by not going to villages? I am also been in finding new foods and cooking ingredients. Thanks for any info.
Does anyone have information or a review on Vitamin "A" Bar? Thanks
I'm going to Georgia in mid-April, flying out from Yerevan, Armenia two weeks later. I want to have a nice relaxing holiday with some culture, hiking, looking at interesting sights, wine/cheese tasting, and eating good food. I'd be really grateful if you could answer a few questions for me. First, any comments on potential itinerary: 4 nights Tbisili 3 nights Kazbegi for hiking 3 nights Sighnaghi including visit to Davit Gareja, and wine tasting etc 1 night on the overnight train to Yerevan 4 nights in Yerevan (with day trips) Next, I'd be really grateful for hotel recommendations - Lonely Planet is frustratingly out of date! I'm looking for pretty, comfortable and central places at under100/night in the cities, and substantially less in the other places. I'd also be grateful for train advice; I know there are faster ways to get to Yerevan, but I like trains. Would I likely get any sleep, or is it too disruptive, i.e. stopping all the time? Also, is it possible to pick up the train in Kazbegi, or should I return to Tbisili?
I am wondering how I can travel from Seki in Azerbaijan (that's a backward "e" in Seki) to Tbilisi. Are there mashrutskas direct, or do I have to change buses and mashrutkas ? If so, where do I have to change ? Or is there a train from Seki to Tbilisi ?
