Boats: Batumi - Sochi

Can anyone confirm that the Tuesday/Friday boats between Batumi/Poti and Sochi are presently running? Also, is this an acceptable border entry for foreigners (ie in contrast to the land crossing from Azerbaijan to Russia, which is closed to foreigners)? I'm just concerned that, after last year's spat between Russia and Georgia, the guidebooks giving information about these boats are out-of-date. Thanks!
