Bars, Restaurants from 1970s

by chalkie247 Online Now Sep 4, 2009 at 7:15 AM

My grandfather has expressed an interest in going back to Gent where he lived in the mid 1970s and was wondering if anyone knew of any bars, restaurants, hotels etc that are still open from back then??

Thanks!

From more then 300 cafés (bars) there should be some that are there sinds 1970s... A list is on cafeplan.be/vlaanderen/searc...

    The more interessting ones:
    DULLE GRIET
    CAFÉ DEN TURK
    'T GALGENHUISJE (since 1776)
    DAMBERD (before 1500)
    WATERHUIS AAN DE BIERKANT

The same is valid for the restaurants (more then 400 on http://www.resto.be). Maybe "De Witte Leeuw" which is located near the "best view of town" still rings a bell.

    Regards, M.
