    • public transport into Geneva from SE side of lake

by bonbon5 Online Now Feb 23, 2014 at 10:56 PM

we will be driving from Bernex France, NOT Switzerland. It's about midlake, south shore. We want to drive the a public transport stop closest to Bernex and leave our car.
I've read that there is a line that goes out of Geneva to the south shore and east some distance. I don't know where that would be.
Please advise me of the bus or tram line and where is the easternmost point we can pick it up on the south side of the lake.

Hello to everyone. This March 2014 I'll go to Switzerland for 2 days only.

1st day: I'll tour around Geneva (Question # 1: Can you advise me to where can I buy cheap ticket for the train to tour around Geneva - should I buy them at the time I'll be in the Geneva Airport or should I get it from the website)

2nd day: I'll go from Geneva to Zermatt (to go for Matterhorn) (Question # 2: Can you advise me also which cheap ticket can I avail)

(Question # 3: From Zermatt to Matterhorn, what train should I ride and advise me also for cheap ticket)

(Question # 4: For 2 days, can I buy only 1 ticket (for 2 days) that will allow me to travel for train to tour around Geneva and for me to go to Matterhorn (Zermatt) and usually how much is it?

Thank you and have a nice day!

Cheap-ish restaurant open late in the Jargonnant/Terrrassiere area?

by adelinemmc Online Now Sep 8, 2013 at 11:30 AM

      Hi
I'm arriving in Geneva late at night and my hotel is near Rue de Jargonnant/ rue de la Terrassiere. I have a limited budget of around 40 Swiss Francs for dinner. Any recommendation within 10/15 minutes walk max?
I see loads on GoogleMap but I know my budget is tight for Geneva (esp if I want a beer or a glass of wine!).
      Thanks

Travel from Geneva to Chamonix via Annecy.

by Flying.Scotsman Online Now Jul 30, 2013 at 9:19 AM

We are going to this area in early September, arriving in Geneva early on a Monday afternoon and planning to go to Annecy the same day. Then, 5 days later, we will travel to Chamonix-Mont Blanc; then 3 days later return to Geneva. We will travel by train or bus. I have started looking into various websites, but hoped some VT members could help with suggestions - train or bus; does the train from Geneva airport continue to Annecy, or are they on different lines. Also which is most scenic? Thanks for any help you can give. Bruce

    • Day trip from France to Geneva?

by ce4589 Online Now Jun 20, 2013 at 3:29 AM

I am going to France for 3 weeks in September and had planned to go to Toulouse for 5 days. I now think this is too long and I could go somewhere else for 2 days so I'm thinking of Geneva. I would either come from Lille at the start of my 5 days or go after 3 days in Toulouse and fly from Geneva to London. I'd spent 1 night in Geneva. I was hoping maybe there would be a day trip but from my research no such thing exists. Any suggestions on how to plan and must see and do's in Geneva as well as best method to get there would be appreciated. I' m traveling solo and will be 21 when I go.
