I checked the official website and below is what I found for a visit in December.
I am slightly confused as when I tried to book this online - it seem there is option for tour every hour.
Any idea how this works?
I am planning a visit on Monday as I will be flying off Tuesday and don't want to miss it.
How long does the tour takes and are we allowed to go on our own after the tour?
When can you visit the Palais des Nations?
From September to March, we are open on weekdays (Monday to Friday) as follows:
Mornings: 10 a.m. to 12 noon (tours start at 10:30 a.m. and 12:00 noon)
Afternoons: 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. (tours start at 2:30 p.m. and 4 p.m.)
I am flying in Geneva early morning, and thought of doing a full day tour in Geneva before heading to Lausanne / Montreaux. I have a few questions!
1) Transport from airport - I read that there is free transport ticket at the luggage hall out of Geneva airport (within 80 min ride) - is this valid for trip to Geneva only or actually that can be used for transfer to Lausanne / Montreaux directly from airport too?
2) I would like to visit the Palais de Nations and have checked out tour times - do I need to book the tour in advance (November visit) or can I just walk in and do the tour on the spot for the timings mentioned?
3) Is it advisable to stay for the night in Geneva or Lausanne / Montreaux? I intend to visit the Château de Chillon the next morning. =) I am aware trains run till late from Geneva to Lausanne / Montreaux, am more concerned about where to leave luggage if I were to do a day trip in Geneva and then head to Lausanne / Montreaux for overnight stay.
4) Within the day, I intend to see Old Town, visit Palais de Nations, see the Botanical Flower walk (I read CERN is closed for renovation). Is there anything I missed and is recommended? Any good spots for panoramic photos of Geneva?
Thank you! =)
I'm travelling to Switzerland for a month in September. I am hoping to see as many Mountains as possible on my trip. I get to spend a day in Geneva and I want very much to see Mont Blanc but I don't have time on the tour to do a separate day trip to Mont Blanc. Can you tell me if I can see Mont Blanc and where is the best place to see the mountain.
Any replies would be wonderful. Thanks
I am traveling from Florence to Paris and the shortest option is through Geneva - but the transfer is only 11 minutes. I am not familiar with this train station. Is that enough time to transfer onto the high-speed train?
We will rent a car in France and drive to Geneva. To avoid international one way fare we would like to drop the car off at the French sector of the airport. Can we go to the Swiss sector to catch a train to Berne? I read the officials FAQ and studied the maps but do not come to an answer. They only describe the reverse case.
Hi Geneva, We have 5 hours in transit at Geneve Cointrin Airport, arriving 4.30pm-9.35pm departure, Would it be possible/viable/worthwhile to leave the airport and do a quick city overview ?? If so where would you recommend and which mode of transport would you suggest ? Your help appreciated Ed
Flying tomorrow to Geneva. Can I take a train on May 1st from the Geneva Airport to Interlaken in the morning then transfer to Murren? Or do I have to go into Geneva to pick up a train. i am from the caribbean and used to warmth. i am to travel to Geneva in May, what types of clothes should i pack?
My family (2 seniors, 2 adults, 2 kids) will be arriving in Frankfurt airport from Malaysia on 30 May early morning. We plan to take a direct train from Frankfurt to Geneva on the same day.
My queries are as follows:-
1. Is it cheaper and better to buy the DB bahn tickets for Frankfurt - Geneva or use the swiss pass?
2. We will be staying in Geneva from 30 May - 3 June (4 nights). We plan to buy the 8 day swiss pass.
Then after that, we will be going to Grindelwald for 5 nights.
We will leave Grindelwald early morning on 8 June (maybe make a stop in Spiez) to Heidelberg.
Should I use the swiss pass from Grindelwald to Basel, then buy a train ticket to Heidelberg. If I buy SBB, do I get a discount (with my swiss pass) for Basel-Heidelberg.
Or should I not use the swiss pass and instead buy a direct train ticket? This is because on our last day, we won't have much time to visit museums and do much.
Sorry, I'm a bit confused .
Thanks so much for your help!

We have planed a couple of days in Geneva from 12 to 14 December to attend the City fest. We wish to see the march of the Compagnie de 1602 and the exercice with the long pikes. I do not find any website supplying the program of the fest.
Could you provide us this information or the address of the site ?
Many thanks in advance

Hi I'm thinking about residing in Massony and coming to Geneva everyday during my trip. Would you be able to tell me how much a monthly bus pass would cost? How frequently would be buses run?
we will be driving from Bernex France, NOT Switzerland. It's about midlake, south shore. We want to drive the a public transport stop closest to Bernex and leave our car.
I've read that there is a line that goes out of Geneva to the south shore and east some distance. I don't know where that would be.
Please advise me of the bus or tram line and where is the easternmost point we can pick it up on the south side of the lake.
how big is Geneva? I am going soon for salsa and wondered how far each place is from one another
I'm going to be in Geneva in early March on a day-trip, Are there any specific cafes or coffeeshops that you would recommend? Thanks!
