    • 4th of July

      Austin Apr 25, 2013 at 5:58 PM

Hello, Austin folks! We are going to be in town over the 4th of July. What's the best bet for fireworks? Also, we'll be staying downtown because our 16-yr-old son is going to a gaming thing at the Convention Center. Do we need a car to see the best that Austin has to offer? We'll be there from the 3rd to the 9th.

Thanks for any info and recommendations!

      Houston Apr 25, 2013 at 9:57 AM

Hi, we are relocating to Houston in the next few months and are looking at areas that have great schools and nice neighborhoods with low crime. Looking heavily at Friendswood or possible Mont Belvieu area. What can you tell me about the towns and schools? Thanks!

    • cheapest airport close to San Francosco

San Antonio May 6, 2013 at 9:46 AM

Planning a flight to San Francisco from San Antonio, possibly in July or August. Can a significant amount of money on airfare be saved by flying into an airport outside of San Francisco & then driving for around (up to) an hour to get to SF?

    • San Antonio/Austin or Surrounding Towns??

      Texas Apr 23, 2013 at 8:21 AM

      Hi,

My sister and I are planning a trip across the States in July and Texas is a must see for us.

We fly into Austin, have 3 days to explore and then fly out of San Antonio. We know we haven't got much time, but were just wondering if anybody had any advice on whether we should focus out trip in only Austin & San Antonio or hire a car for 2 days and explore the little towns in-between?

Also, we are are in Texas for the 4th July, any advice about where best to celebrate this day between the 2 cities or the smaller surrounding towns?

We would really appreciate any help anyone can offer.

    • Where are campfires allowed?

I've heard that no one really cares if you go down the sea wall by the toll bridge, but I was wondering if there was anywhere that it actually wasn't illegal to have a campfire on the beach (preferably secluded and away from the city lights)?

I have a civil engineer/city planner guest coming in at the end of February, 2009. He wants to see how Galveston and the area coped with IKE. Any suggestions what he can see? Is the Boliver Ferry operating? Are highways 87 and 124 on High Island open? Also I'd like feed him a good fish dinner. Suggestions much appreciated.

      Texas Trip

by kellybum Online Now Oct 8, 2008 at 12:53 PM

We are visiting Texas from the UK next April. Any tips on whether or not Galveston will be up and running by then? It was to be our last port of call for some "chilling" but after Ike we are unsure what to do Many thanks
