Special permission to travel to Galapagos Island required?

by friendbubble Online Now Mar 22, 2013 at 3:16 AM

Hi,

My girlfriend and me are planning to travel to Ecuador and Galapagos Islands in December this year. Does anybody knows if a special permission is required to travel to Galapagos Islands and to stay there for a couple of days? Many thanks for your help!

Thomas

    galapagos-ecuador.com/eng/02...

The site says there is $100 tax payable to the National Park. This is a good link so please spend some time studying it so you will know all about the islands.

Don't forget that the $100 fee must be paid in cash, so have cash with you before leaving for the islands.

We'll definitely visit the south of Ecuador. What is the favorite way to get there from Quito? What would you recommend to travel in Ecuador? By plane, bus or train? Thank you very much! And one more question: We've read about the bad weather in January in Ecuador. Do you have any experiences with the weather in January?

I have travelled a lot with bus in Ecuador and it has been fine. Theft occur and therefore I always put my big backpack by my feet and my small backpack on my lap. On the bus from Quito to Bahía it was obligatory to put big bags in the compartment below, but then I got a baggage tag and the bus didn’t stop to pick up passengers along the journey (except at one station).

I have also taken a few domestic flights which all have worked well, but that was when it was more convenient and the airport in Quito was centrally located. The new airport is quite far away from the city.
