Route to Castle

Hi VTers, I read that some of you suggest the more scenic route instead of the street to go up/down the castle, where can I find that route? Thanks

I'm not sure if this is what you're referring to, but on the way down from Neuschwenstein, we took the foot path from Mariahilbrucke passing through the woods and ends somewhere near the lake.

If you mean the route up by the Pollat Gorge which is incredibly lovely to walk up (or down), you need to walk along the bottom of the mountains, if you park in the car park near the roundabout, not the one near the lake, you just cross the road and walk down the short street to the bottom of the mountains. You'll come to a part where theres a sort of gravelly clearing and there's a couple of small wooden buildings. Its signposted as Neuschwanstein and the Pollat Gorge, and it starts by going over a metal sort of bridge attached to the wall over the Gorge. If you would like, PM me with your email address and I can send you a map, its easy to find, but hard to describe. Hope thats of some help!
