i want to travel from munich airport to Fussen in early June. i believe the best way to do this is by rail, but i can't find a means of ordering my tickets on-line. the site says i'm not providing enough information about my departure/arrival stations. i now believe i may be traveling from Munchen-Pasing. can you assist me. or since Fussen is near to Austria would it be easier to travel to an airport there?
There is no reason or any advantage to buy a train ticket for this route in advance. This route is served only by regional trains where you cannot reserve seats. DB timetable reiseauskunft.bahn.de/bin/qu...? From: MUC (for Munich Airport train station) To: Fuessen *) To: Hohenschwangau (this is the bus stop next to the ticket booths for Neuschwanstein Castle) *) Füssen = Fuessen if umlauts are not available. Not Fussen!!! This works with timetables, search engines like Google etc. The homepage of Füssen can be thus found under http://www.fuessen.de and the one of Munich (München in German) http://www.muenchen.de The best option is to buy a Bavaria Ticket Single (EUR 17,00) from a ticket machine after arriving there. The red/grey DB ones with touchscreen do accept credit cards. The Bavaria Ticket is valid one day on all local trains in Bavaria (so it's quite nice that there are no others on this route). On weekdays however only past 9am. The Bavaria Ticket covers furthermore all public transport in Munich (U-Bahn, trams, buses). And also some regional bus companies, e.g. the RVO bus from Füssen to Hohenschwangau is also covered. There is also a ticket version for 2-5 persons travelling together which is EUR 24,00.
