Some years ago we had two wonderful holidays at the Madeira Palacio Hotel in Funchal. However, it closed in 2006 for renovations and doesn't seem to have re-opened. I've searched the Internet and looked on Google Earth, where I can see what appears to be a giant building site in that location. I would love to know what's happening with it so does anyone know?
Hi Ann - can't add answer your question, but it does bring back some very fond memories of the hotel and Madiera. My daughter was four when we stayed there, she turned 23 a couple of weeks ago, so it has been a while...

The original plan was 3 years closure but the money ran out and so progress has been made - not an unusual occurance in Madeira
