I am planning to visit on a Thursday in June (day trip from Munich). Plan to arrive by 10 AM, depart back to Munich by 4 PM (as I need to catch a train onwards to Wurzburg from Munich)
I read on the website that I can pre-order ticket ahead. Looking for suggestion on:
- what time should I order ticket (English tour) as I read there is some climb uphill required?
- how much time do I allocate for climb uphill (moderate fitness level only)?
- anything specific to take note of in terms of arriving via train?
- how many hours is sufficient to see the castle and are photos allowed inside?
- is there any spot recommended to stop for good photos for the entire castle?
- any other useful tips appreciated
VT'ers told me about the Bavarian ticket which I am aiming to get on the spot. =)
Danke!
Have heard that Forggensee does drain out at times during the year to avoid flooding... Does anyone know what it will look like in May? Will it be a brown patch or will it still be scenic? Don't want to cycle around the lake if there's not going to be any water!
Appreciate any advice.
Was hoping somebody could confirm that Marienbrücke remains open at all times, or does it have specific opening hours? I know it's free, but can you get on there say very early in the morning or at sunset?
Thanks!
Hi guys Does anyone know where I can watch the World Cup in Fuessen or Schwangau? I know i'm English but i'm so embarrassed about our attitude to football I tend to follow Germany so am extremely happy with today's result! :) Would love to see the team beat Mexico/Argentina with other germans while i'm over there so if anyone knows of anywhere that may be showing it, please let me know. Thank you! Jen

Hi guys, So i'm going back to Fuessen again, this time over Christmas. I have never been in winter so have a few questions, i'm grateful for any help you can give! Firstly, how does Christmas work in Bavaria, is it likely that we may find a restaurant to book for Christmas dinner, or would we be better buying our own food in? We are staying in a self catering guesthouse. Also, i have heard that you can take sleigh rides near Schwangau, where would I be able to find information to book this? We are flying over, and will do the main bulk of the journey by train, but when we get to Fuessen we wondered if it would be safe to get a rental car. I am assuming it will be snowy and icy and although my partner is used to driving in these conditions, we wondered if the roads are cleared and safe to drive on or if it is better to stick with taxis and trains. Last one, is there anywhere we definately should visit? I would like to visit Oberammergau again as I imagine it would be nice over the Christmas period. We are there for a week and although I have been to the area many many times, this is my first winter visit so I would like to do as much as I can! Thank you guys! (And thank you Globetrott, i'm going to guess you may reply :) - you're help is always appreciated!)
Hello, we are travelling to memmingen airport in a few days. We will spend 4 days in the region and we are trying to organise a small trip around. I think we should visit Füssen and the castles, but where else can we go? We are renting a car: is it a good idea? We want to see mountains, hike a little bit, swim in lakes, etc. We are not visiting München. Please, can you give some advice on: -places to stay (the 4 days in a place or change location every night?) -places to visit -car renting (is it a good idea?) -any suggestion! THANK YOU VERY MUCH! Anna
Can anyone give me any info on the boat tours of Lake Forggen please? I can't seem to find anything specific online only that there are two boats the MV Fuessen and the MV Allgaeu. I'm looking for time tables and prices not to mention reviews (naturally).
Hello, I'll be in Fuessen in a few weeks, and was wondering if anyone has biked from Fuessen to Schwangau to see the castles. From the map, it looks like it's only 3.2 KMs, but I'm not sure if there is a safe trail for bikers/walkers? Any help is appreciated!
Can anyone tell me how far it is between the two? I know there is a bus route, but would it be too far to bike to from Schwangau? Thanks Jen
I will be arriving by train to Fuessen early afternoon in December. How far is the Hotel Kurcafe from the Bahnhof? Is it a managable walking distance with a backpack and small rolling suitcase?

I am going to travel to fuessen in mid-July, but I couldn't find a accomodation with resonable price (since the youth hostel is already full and the price for pension and hotel are really highhhh..) could anyone suggest me for a place to stay with cost me up to 25 euro? thanks
Hi! I'm writing a project for our German class here in Mgr.-Marcel-François-Richard High School in St-Louis-de-Kent, New Brunswick, Canada. The project consists of arranging a two-week trip to any city in Germany. So, I was wondering if someone could help me out by suggesting some places that one could visit in the city of Füssen. If you have any ideas, please e-mail to kewlio-origin [at] myrealbox [dot] com. (Of course, replace the [at] with @ and [dot] with . first. Just another trick to avoid spam bots.) Kewlio
