      Eurovision final viewing in Potsdam

      Potsdam May 17, 2013 at 7:42 AM

      Hi all,

I'd appreciate any advice on where to watch the final of the Eurovision song contest tomorrow evening (18th May). Are there any places (eg. cafe, sports bar, restaurant) in Potsdam which will be showing this event? We are visiting Potsdam this weekend and would love to get a glimpse of this year's final but the accommodation we'll be staying at doesn't have a TV... Any advice would be much appreciated!

      Cheers,
      Tania

      Frankfurt in a 2 or 3 hour

Frankfurt am Main May 23, 2013 at 10:05 AM

Hi everybody!!! I am arriving from Buenos Aires to Frankfurt airport (FRA)Terminal 1 on Sunday 09/06/2013 at 11:10 AM and departing the same day to Palermo, Sicily Italia (PMO) by flight LH 338 Lufthansa Cityline: 09/06/2013 at 16:05 PM. I have to make the check inn at Cityline before to take the plane to Palermo. And the question is: Will I have the time to see the city town of Frankfurt in 2 or 3 hour? I only pretend to have a coffee and see the sight from outside. May be to do some shopping. What do you think about? it is possible? People told me that there are trains S9 than get to the town in 30 minutes. It is to crazy to go to the city town? it is better to remain in the airport? I dont speak any germany and my english is very basic. I really apreciate any advice about that. Many thanks for your help!!

A bell rings when a fresh barrel is opened - which restaurant does that?

      Bremen Jul 25, 2012 at 2:26 AM

Many years ago we were in Bremen and my husband remembers being in a restaurant where a bell was rung each time a fresh beer barrel was opened. He would like to go back, but doesn't remember the name. I don't remember much about this but then I'm not much of a beer drinker. A google search came up with Beck's zur Glocke. This could be the place, as there is both beer and a bell in the name. However, I couldn't find any information about a bell being rung. Does anybody know if this is the right place? Do they still ring a bell? Or is it a different restaurant alltogether? Thank you for your help.

      Bremen Jun 24, 2012 at 2:10 AM

Hello there I will be in Bremen on sunday the 1st of july (Accor-hotel near Autobahn), and since I am not that interested in football, I have been so careless as to plan our vacation so we're travelling on the night of the Euro Cup finals ;-) I am travelling with ny nephews who are both very much into football, and object a lot against watching the finals on a 14" screen in the hotelroom ;-) Therefore I am looking for some place in Bremen where we can go to see the finale? Is there some areas with big screens, public places that show the game etc? My nephews are both teenagers, so it should be a "family-friendly" place :-) Thanks in advance.

Family room in hotel in city centre

I am looking for a hotel which has a 'family room' type set up. Either a two bedrooms linked together or 1 bedroom with a lounge area as well. This is so that when we put our son to bed we can go into another area to relax rather than having to sit in silence for the rest of the evening! Does such a place exist in Bremen city centre?

    • Looking for hobby shop selling paper balls

      Bremen Sep 11, 2011 at 3:06 PM

Hallo! When I visited Bremen I bought a small origami-type ball made out of paper, and it had a hole that a person blows air into to make it puff out into its ball shape. It flattens out into an oval shape with pointy ends when it isn't blown up, and it's glued together. The paper is a kind of tissue, with pieces glued together. I think that Asian origami-makers call it Kami Fusen. I remember that the store also sold a lot (in my opinion) of fabulous kite-making materials. I was absolutely enchanted by the store. Does anybody who lives in Bremen know of any stores there that would sell these things? It might have been a place that primarily sold kite stuff. I went there in 1992. Danke!

I am leaving for Bremen tomorrow and will spend the weekend there. Have noticed that a lot of the Bremen tips are quite old, a lot of them are probably still useful, but if you have been there recently or have some updated tips I would be very glad. I am also looking into doing a Becks Brewery tour. Does anyone know if it is possible to just show up or book 1-2 days in advance? The only thin I have found is a page that says at least 7 days in advance because they post the tickets.

      Bremen Apr 23, 2010 at 6:33 AM

Greeting from South Africa! We are visiting our family who live outside Bremen in August. We want to travel for about a week and we're planning on spending 3 nights in Berlin and then another 3-4 nights near Hamburg. Can anyone recommend a nice small typical old german town we can stay at between Bremen and Berlin? We are travelling with our children who are 1, 2 and 3 so it would be nice to split the trip a little bit for them. If you can recommend any nice places to stay - possibly NOT hotels that would be great. Also, any suggestions of a nice town to stay in near Hamburg? We are thinking of Buxtehude.
