6 of us are going to NZ end March and three are taking helicopter ride to top of glacier and three of us would like to do the trek preferably not the all day one because of our time schedule. Any suggestions please?
Currently Franz Josef Glacier can only be accessed by helicopter because the glacier has retreated dramatically and the terminal face is not safe anymore. You can only do helicopter-free half-day tours at Fox Glacier at the moment - which, of course, is a lot cheaper than the heli tour.
