Hello, I will be travelling to southeast Europe this July from Detroit, USA (Lufthansa airlines) and I have a layover of 11 hours and 20 mins at the Frankfurt airport. I think this would be more than sufficient time to see some of the city. From the little research I've done, I've found out that the airport is in the city only about 7.5 miles from central Frankfurt.
I've never left an airport on a layover before so how do I go about doing this? And what should I see and do in the hours I have? And what is the best method of transportation to get from the airport to the city-centre?
Also, the layover is from 9:10 am to 8:30 pm and the flight is to Ljubljana with Adria Airways. I will be travelling with one other person. Any advice is greatly appreciated, thanks!
What is the best way to get from Frankfurt Airport to Luxembourg city? Arriving in Frankfurt FRA at 10 in the morning and need to transfer directly to Luxembourg

Hi everybody!!! I am arriving from Buenos Aires to Frankfurt airport (FRA)Terminal 1 on Sunday 09/06/2013 at 11:10 AM and departing the same day to Palermo, Sicily Italia (PMO) by flight LH 338 Lufthansa Cityline: 09/06/2013 at 16:05 PM. I have to make the check inn at Cityline before to take the plane to Palermo. And the question is: Will I have the time to see the city town of Frankfurt in 2 or 3 hour? I only pretend to have a coffee and see the sight from outside. May be to do some shopping. What do you think about? it is possible? People told me that there are trains S9 than get to the town in 30 minutes. It is to crazy to go to the city town? it is better to remain in the airport? I dont speak any germany and my english is very basic. I really apreciate any advice about that. Many thanks for your help!!

I have got a few hours for a day trip in early June (Saturday) for either Frankfurt (possibly from 12 PM to 7 PM) or Wurzburg (from 10 PM to 5 PM). Can you let me know your recommendation on which option given that I have not been to either. (I would have covered Berlin, Munich, Fussen, Rothenburg o. d. Taub. by then.) Looking for specific recommendation on the must see during that short time frame.
My flight is at 1030 PM from Frankfurt. Thus I would aim to be at the airport by 8PM latest. Is this good enough given this is a Saturday.
- How do I get to the airport from Frankfurt main train station and how long does it take?
- Is there luggage storage facility in either Frankfurt or Wurzburg train station? Is it easy to manage and how much does it cost?
Many thanks! =)
I will be in Frankfurt for one day. Please help to choose a hotel close to the most popular sights of interest and advise what can be seen in one day. Thank you
Hi, is it possible to do a day trip from Frankfurt to Neuschwanstein Castle? I have researched on the web - some think it is a bad idea as long trip journey, however most information are probably outdated. I am looking for more practical tip on the best way to do this (in May) and hope to get very useful information. There is just 2 of us, so driving is out of the question, but open for suggestion on public transport or even a day tour excursion with a tour company (if any).
THANKS!
Hi everybody,
I want to buy something from My Little Pony toys to my daughter while staying in Frankfurt
(she's a fan and collects these little toys).
I know Toys r Us is an option.. but they don't have many choices.
Does anybody know another big toy retail in Frankfurt I could ask about these toys?
Any hint is appreciated!!
Cheers,

Hi! We have made the following planning for Saturday 8th December using the Schönes-Wochenende-Ticket: - Frankfurt to Rothenburg (RE, RB): 07:30 a.m. - 10:49 a.m. - Stay at Rothenburg until 13:05 p.m. - Rothenburg to Nurnberg (RB, S): 13:09 p.m.-14:36 p.m. - Stay at Nurnberg until 18:55 p.m. or 19.55 p.m. - Supposing the last option: Nurenberg to Frankfurt (RE, RB, S): 20:05 p.m. - 00:16 a.m. Is it OK? We know is very tight but if we want to visit both places (Nurnberg and Rothenburg) is the unique option. We have the following doubts: 1) In the coming back trip from Nurnberg to Frankfurt there is one change at Hanau Hbf arriving at platform 106, and 8 minutes later leaving from platform 2 to Frankfurt. Is it possible in only 8 minutes that conection from platform 106 to 2? 2) Would it be possible with the same Schönes-Wochenende-Ticket to go on that day from Frankfurt Hbf to Frankfurt Main Flughafen to get the boarding card for Sunday? Thanks a lot.
Hi! As GyuriFT has informed us there is Schönes-Wochenende-Ticket that can be suitable for us to go from Frankfurt to Nurnberg on Saturday. We have been reading about it and have the following questions: - round trip for two people - 40 eur, isn't it? - Is it necessary to buy in advance? - I know it is possible to buy online and at ticket vending machines. Is it possible to buy it at Frankfurt Hautbahnhof station at the same price (40 eur)? Thanks.
Hi! We are going to spend 3 days (Thursday to Sunday) at Frankfort at the beginning of December and would like to visit Nürnberg one day to see its famous Christmas Market. Which is the cheapest option to go from Frankfort to Nürnberg on the same day two people? Is there any ticket to do it cheaper? Thank you.
Hello Everybody, I am on the last leg of my 'planning' for my trip to Frankfurt This will be my first visit to the city. When it comes to food, I am every bit of adventurous, I am always keen to experience the local signature food, their recipes, for the formal dining as well as the street food. Can anyone suggest me the top 4 meals that I CANNOT miss having while being in Frankfurt. And which ones should I avoid?
What is the best means to travel from the Frankfurt airport to the town of Urzig? I am meeting others in Urzig and do not want to rent a car to make the drive myself.
Am I correct in saying that Frankfurt is not considered to be a tourist destination? I have the opportunity to go there for a couple of nights in December, but have been put off by its image as a business rather than tourist city. I know that it has a Christmas Market, but it does not seem to be up there with the major ones, such as Cologne, Nurenberg etc. Is it worth spending the money on visiting it for 2 nights, or would it be more advisable to go to another city? Thanks Louise
Our plane lands at Frankfurt am Main at 2:00pm, Terminal 1B. Wondering if we should be able to catch the 3:02pm ICE train from Flughafen fernbf, platform 4, considering immigration check, baggage collection and customs. How far is the walking distance? Are there any stairs to climb? The train tickets are pre-booked. Thanks.
Hello We are arriving at Rhein-Main Frankfurt soon and taking a train to Goettingen the next day from Frankfurt Hauptbahnhof. So, we've decided to stay overnight in a hotel in the Hauptbahnhof area which we've been told is a 'shady' area and should therefore choose our hotel with care. Firstly, can anyone suggest the best way (train/bus details) to go to Frankfurt Hauptbahnhof from Rhein-Main and recommend a decent hotel with good facilities? Is it also true that most hotels there do not have air-con ? We really do not wish to spoil our first night in Germany. Alternatively, please mention easy connections to Goettingen direct from Rhein-Main. Thanks :-)
I used to go to a favorite bar in Sachsenhausen. We called it Four Stories because it seemed like it had 3-4 small floors, each with a bar and then the top was like the attic with a small dance floor or mosh pit and a church alter at one end. Very strange and very cool. Last time I was there was in 1990. Four Stories is probably not the right name but maybe someone knows of this place. It wasn't too far from the Irish Pub if I remember correctly. Thx
Hello. Any tips on how to travel best and quickest (not my car) from Neustadt and der Weinstrasse to Frankfurt Airport next Monday morning? Thank in advance.
On August 31st I will be landing at Frankfurt airport at 7:30am and there is a flight I am looking at to Slovenia on Adria Airlines that departs 9:10am. Do people think this is enough time to land and transfer. I realize it is tight but I have flown into Frankfurt twice and found it fairly efficient to get through. I am flying Condor Airlines from Canada and it looks like they use terminal 1. From what I can see Adria Airlines uses terminal 1A. I appreciate your thoughts....
I want to shop for pen caran d'ache. From where can I purchase the same? Is there any store near airport? What are the other things that can be purchased from Frankfurt?
We are 3 couples (one person aged over 60) who wish to catch a train from Frankfurt's main railway station to St Goar on Sunday 2nd September sometime after 3.30pm. We're wondering what the cheapest ticket(s) would be and if it's worth booking them online beforehand. Thanks for any advice, Kathy.
