Road trip from Frankfurt to Prague

      by GracesTrips Online Now Yesterday

This is the plan for the end of October this year. Is there any "must do" or "off the beaten path" things to do along the way? We will return to Frankfurt from Prague and we will have two weeks. Part of the reason we are in Frankfurt is to visit my boyfriend's family. Thank you, in advance, for you input!

I'm taking a river cruise from Frankfurt to Nuremberg (sp?) in late November. Can anyone suggest what we should carry to wear at that time of year? Bare in mind that we are from Texas, and not used to a lot of cold weather. Also what are the markets like? Could we end up sick of Christmas stuff after a week?

My husband and I are attending a conference in Mainz towards the end of August. We are flying in to Frankfurt and have 4-5 days before the conference. We would be grateful for some advice as to how best to spend our time. We love cruises and beautiful scenery & don't care much for museums & wineries. Should we rent a car? Should we spend say a day in Frankfurt and head out to Mainz after that? We will be flying home from Frankfurt. Thank you in advance for any suggestions.

Would it be better to take a cruise in the Rhine Valley or driving would be just as good. If cruise then, is there a way we take our car along on a one way cruise to Bonn. thanks

I am traveling to Paris and I will have a 1 hour layover in Frankfurt. I am wanting to at least be able to walk around the airport and get a beer. Does anyone know if one hour will be enough for me to get off my plane, have a beer and catch my next flight? Since I am traveling from the U.S. will I have to go through customs before getting on my next flight? Is the airport terribly busy on a Monday afternoon (in march)? Thanks for the help!

    • Frankfurt to Prague with a concentration camp visit in the middle

I have a business meeting in Frankfurt Germany in 3 weeks and then I am taking 4 days to see some things before flying back to the US on the 5th day. My thoughts are to take one day to visit a concentration camp and then head over to Prague (via airlines) for 3 full days, where I will fly home from PRG. My question is, what is a recommended camp that I should see? Would I take a train to it? And can it be accomplished in one day?

Arriving Frankfurt 7:15 AM driving north to Koeln then northeast to Schwelm by 7:30 PM. What sites are there that we should see? A quaint town? A castle? A Roman ruin? A great place to eat? A beautiful church? I know it's not much time, but I also know there has got to be something there that I just shouldn't miss. Thanks.

    • River Cruises in Germany/Bavaria

by fmb43 Online Now Mar 18, 2005 at 3:56 PM

A family group (possibly 15-20 people) is planning a trip to the home of our ancestors; Aschaffenburg in Bavaria. We will be spending about 2-3 days in that area & are then looking for a river cruise for approx 7 days. My questions are these: 1) Is Aschaffenburg a good place to base ourselves for that long? In other words, are there interesting things to see & do in the area? 2) If we take the cruise from Mainz, should we go north to Koblenz &/or Cologne or south on the Rhine or should we take the Main River/Danube east & south to Passau? We are looking for the most scenic route with the most to see in the port cities. 3) Any suggestions on which cruise company to use? i'd appreciate any input. Thank You
