hi are there any recommended budget hotels that are within walking distance from the eiffel tower? im staying there alone, so not very fussy about it
For budget you're going to have to go some distance from the tower, it is situated in a very select area where the hotels don't know what "budget" means. Unless you are talking of around 120/150€ and even that will depend on the dates you want.

I already checked booking.com Lynne, but as he doesn't say when he is going......
A hotel in the 16th " Le Hameau de Passy" where I got a great deal at 60-something euros last May is at 160€ for June this year.

got it. thanks everybody for that!! Could i ask another qs... i have heard about the shopping spree in Paris, Im looking to buy the branded goods like Louis Vutton etc. There are a few shopping areas, but which one is the best? In that case, there is no need for me to move around so much.

Shopping spree in Paris !!! Depends if you have the money or not. The summer sales start here on the last Wednesday of June, I believe it is the 26th. Branded goods like Vuitton do not generally come down much in price. Best areas for shopping ? If you have the money the Champs Elysees, a little bit less the Printemps and Galeries Lafayette on Blvd Haussmann. For the rest of us it is generally the rue de Rivoli, Blvd St. Michel/Blvd St. Germain area or the Halles mall. There is still work going on there but most of it is open.

I'm not much of a shopper, but you might be interested in La Vallee Village out near Disneyland. Most of the famous brands are there. I would not stay out there because it's too far from all the sights you want to see. La Vallée Village Outlet Shopping: "Discount name-brand shopping in Paris" - Paris Shopping Tip by Beausoleil
You can also check web sites for some of the stores. As mentioned above, there are sales around the time you are going. Here's the web site for Galleries Lafayette. http://www.galerieslafayette.com/

Have a quick look at booking.com then, I've just seen a few in the 7th arrondissement for between 107€ and 130€ for a double. Yep, no sales in April and do be careful of the "not so genuine" article, you might not even get it out of the country!!!

Paul makes a good point about cheap copies or knockoffs of brand name goods. If caught at Customs with these, they may be confiscated.
