Water in Fort Myers Beach

We are planning a family trip to Fort Myers beach in July. We have never been there before - usually go to Destin / Panhandle area - and have heard that the water is brown and murky in FMB this time of year. I am all about the water and being used to the beautiful water in Destin, I am now worried that our whole vacation will be ruined because of ugly water. Should we go back to Destin again?? How bad is the water in FMB?? Thanks.

    Hi We have been to Fort. Meyers twice and esepecially last time in 2002 we thought the waters was really brown and murky. My kids almost only went swimming in the pool. We are going back to Florida next summer and are looking elsewhere this time. We were in Florida in July. Ann from Norway

    well not all of the beaches in fort myers are brown and nasty
