My family and I just returned from a week at the beach. We stayed approximately 16 miles down the Fort Morgan road from Gulf Shores. We were perplexed by many jagged wooden pylons embedded in the sand. Most of these were fully visible during low tide. It almost looked like an old barricade system. Any idea what these are?
It could have been a pier taken out by a hurricane, or if it was further out, they have / had many decks for piping natural gas right off the coast. They sometimes dredge the bottom to and pylons that secured the dredge equipment is left as well. I've stayed at the Plantation Resort several times in the past, but now go to Destin on a regular get away.
