Hi, I am a French photographer and with a journalist we are about to come to Fort Mcmurray for a reportage on oil sand next week. For the pictures, I need some snow. Is there some now? Also, all the hotels look full. Any advice? Many thanks to all of you, See you soon, V
Plan and research better next time? Fort McMurray has probably been the busiest place in Canada for the last 5 years.

A couple of weeks ago, The Telegraph (UK) did a big story on Fort McMurray and the tar sands and peripherary industry. As the previous poster says, it's probably the busiest (and fast becoming the most polluted) place in Canada! Even 20 years ago when I knew people who were going on business to Fort McMurray they had to book hotels well in advance or else rely on the kindness of business associates, so I am not surprised that now all the accommodation is booked out well in advance. If you have already booked your flight, then I think you will have to either bring a tent or else hope that someone can provide private accommodation (at a price). As to know, probably not!

The weather in Ft. McMurray is forecast , this week , to be 13 C high and 3C low . It could change very quickly but seeing snow is a long shot.
