Hi! Going to Fort Lauderdale with my husband and 2 kids, April 7-11th. Looking for ideas for fun/unique things to do with little kids other than beach/pool that would be appropriate for a 3 year old. thanks!
What to pack for April ?
What should we pack as far as clothing for Ft.Lauderdale first week of April?
Hi all! My family and I are relocating to this area at end of summer and I wanted to get a jump start on a few things; so, can I get some advice on apartment communities? Where to stay and NOT stay! Also, I've heard the hiring process for teachers is a bit difficult for out of state people... True? Thanks, Shawn
Hello! I´m going to spend 2 days in Fort Lauderdale in January 2013 post-cruise, and I would like some advice on what not to miss out on. I´ve been there once before, but since we were tired, did not have a car and had limited time we did not see much apart from Sawgrass Mills mall. What is downtown like, where is located and do you have any ideas or tips on where to stay? We will not have a car or be able to rent a car during our stay. Last time we stayed in SE 17th street at the Renaissance, but is seems it was pretty far from the center of Fort Lauderdale when not having a car?? Also I´d appreciate any ideas on what to see and do very much! I´ve heard about the water-taxi and that it should be a nice thing, is that correct and where does it leave from? Thanks, Rebecca
Going to visit Ft. Lauderdale next winter and want to find a good spot to spend a day. Looking for some area near the beach with good shopping and restaurants and bars. We are staying near the airport so closer to that the better. Don't know where to go! Someplace available by public transportation.
I need some help to get from Fort Lauderdale to Sawgrass mall.Is there any transportaiton option to get there from the city? Thanks Marcel
Hello and Happy Easter to everyone, Please I am planning a vacation to Florida at the end of the month, and intend visiting and spending a couple of days in Orlando, Forte Lauderdale, and possibly Miami (in no specific order); from there I shall be proceeding to Baltimore in Maryland. I intend to rent a car and drive. Please does anyone have any experience on the road trip; i.e. the distance and time to travel on road from Orland to Baltimore? thanks All.
We will be staying in Fort Lauderdale (unless advised otherwise) the night before a cruise out of Miami. We would like to stay where we are within walking distance of nightlife, and in a fairly decent hotel (3* and up). Beach bars within walking distance is a bonus, but more importantly, near a good selection of places. Another bonus would be free transport from FLL to hotel. Plan on taking a cab or shuttle (not determined at this point) to Port of Miami the next morning. Thanks for your advice!
Is there public transportation from the cruise ship docking area to West Palm Beach, FL where we catch a plane at that airport? We will travel on April 29, 2012 at approx. 11 am, with a flight out in the afternoon.
My husband and I are going on our first cruise and will be arriving by 9AM in Fort Lauderdale on 3/17. We are not scheduled to embark until 4PM and are wondering if anyone can suggest what activities we can do while awaiting embarcation. How far is the port from the beach or any other fun stuff? We are in our 30s and very active and adventurous so we are open to your suggestions, whether organized tours or off-the-beaten path adventures. BTW - what is the cheapest way to get around from the port to the activities you are suggesting? We would like to avoid having to soend too much in taxi fares and would prefer public transportation or even renting bikes to get around. Any suggestions are welcome. Thanks in advance!!
I will be spending a week in Sunny Isles in April and am considering renting a condo unit from an owner at 19370 Collins Ave. (Ocean Reserve Beach Condominium). I am looking for very specific advice on the quality of the building, distance to the beach, and cleanliness of the beach. Thanks!!!
Hello, I have an unusual question (most people ask the reverse sort of question), so please read carefully before responding. I really hate taking elevators, so I am wondering if is possible to take an escalator PRE-SECURITY going DOWN between Level 2 (Departures) and Level 1 (Arrivals) in Terminal D at FLL. [Note: As I type this, I realize it does not have to be Terminal D specifically in this case. I can go to whichever terminal has a pre-security down escalator between levels because I can catch my onward bus at a number of locations. So please advise of any terminal with this setup.] Here's the scenario: I will be returning a car to the rental-car center, then taking the rental-car shuttle bus to the terminal. I assume the shuttle buses only drop off on Level 2 of each terminal, as most people are obviously flying out after dropping off a car. However, I will be getting another bus to an onward destination in Miami. So I want to go from Level 2 to Level 1 via escalator or stairs and will be solely in the pre-security part of the building. Is this possible? Some airports only have down escalators for arriving passengers, post-security, which won't help me. I do realize elevators exist between these two levels. I'm only asking if it is also possible to take an escalator down in Terminal 2 while being pre-security. Thank you! And all my wishes that you don't find yourself in the grips of a phobia as lame as mine! :-)
We are getting into Ft Lauderdale airport at 11:45 in the evening and checking into a hotel in Cypress Creek. We are taking a cruise out of Port Everglades the following day. Does anyone have an idea if there are airport shuttles from Ft Lauderdale airport to Cypress Creek and how much? What about shuttle from Cypress Creek to Port Everglades? I would like to have an idea of how much each trip costs per person. I would appreciate your input. Thanks.
hi, a friend kindly invited me to come and visit her in FORT LAUDERDALE. i live in MONTREAL, QUEBEC. what is the best (and cheapest!) way to fly there? a friend of mine suggested i fly out of VERMONT (burlington?). i can drive there, no problem, if that is the best option. also, i cannot go until JUNE 22nd at the earliest because of my work (i am self-employed), and the latest i could go would be the LAST WEEK OF AUGUST. anytime in between is fine by me if that can get me a cheap flight! also, i can leave any day of the week i want. and i would like to stay a MINIMUM of 7 days, maybe 14 days (if my friend will have me over that long!!!). p.s. when is the OFF-SEASON? thanks. suzanne
We'll be sailing Solstice March 11th and the following week Allure--both are out of Fort Lauderdale. Wonder how close they will be docked apart? Will we be able to just walk off Solstice and walk over to Allure. Is there a map of the port on cruise days we could look to see where the ships are scheduled to dock? THanks in advance.
Flying into Fort Lauderdale on 02/10/12 and leaving on a cruise the next day out of Miami, any suggestions where to stay for one night in Lauderdale and also the easiest way to get to cruise port in Miami.
I just booked a cruise leaving from Ft. Lauderdale in early January, flying down the night before because you just don't know with Chicago weather. The cruise returns early Sat and I have the option of coming back on Sat night or staying over Sat night and leaving sometime on Sunday. Don't know anything at all about Ft. Lauderdale although I did read in the port guides that you could do an everglades tour from there. Do they operate in January? And if they do, are they enjoyable that time of year? Anything else of interest that would warrant staying the extra day? By then I imagine I'll have my fill of beaches on the cruise. Thanks :)
I have only two hours time to catch a flight from Fort Lauderdale airport after arriving to Miami airport and would request somebody to suggest economical mode of transport. Appreciate a copy to drop in to silkmurthy@yahoo.com
We are leaving on a 3-week cruise from Ft. Lauderdale on January 2, 2012, and will travelthere a few days earlier, and spend New Year's Eve. Any suggestions for a decent, but not outrageously expensive hotel, that would offer dining/dancing/entertainment on New Year's Eve. Or separate the two, a decent hotel, and a decent place to spend New Year's Eve, not too far apart. We will be renting a car for the few days, but have no wish to drive a great distance, especially having had a few drinks.
Can anyone shed some lights on some transportation options from Miami Beach to Fort Lunderdale to board the cruise ship to the caribbean? How much time do I need to allow for the travel? Also, after leaving the cruise ship in the morning, what would be the best way to get to Orlando on the same day. We are a family of four. thank you.
We are comming by car from Orlando. Advice on the best route and advice on what to do the afternoon and evening before the cruise. We will also have about 24 hrs after the cruise before we fly back to Australia.
I am a Travel Agent and I have a customer who wants to drop a car off at a Budget Car Hire Location but doesn't know which one is nearest the port! The options are 6301 North Powerline Road or 1460 North Federal Highway Dollar have one on 2400 Miami Road but are more expensive. She is considering hiring a car in Orlando for 10 days, drooping the car in Fort Lauderdale (one of above locations) and then collecting another car at the end of her cruise to get back to Orlando. Does anyone know which one is closest and how much a taxi would be to the port? The other option is to hire the car for the full duration and pay to park it at the port whilst on the cruise - this is more costly though! Any advice would be great!
my daughter and i will be taking a cruise from miami port but we are staying in ft lauderdale for 2 days before.
