Does anyone knows if there are buses to go straight to Lagoa da Conceição or Joaquina from the city center of Florianopolis? thinking to go back there but don't know how to go by bus. Thanks!
Hi i am staying at Florianopolis Palace and checking out around 10am. What would be the best bus to catch to Praia Mole without having to change on the way. DO buses go straight past Sunset Backpackers or would i have to walk up from the beach. What would be the cost of a taxi also, cheers.
Hi all, It's great to find this site! We are a family from Argentina, moving to Floripa after 8 years of living in Ireland .. As our two kids (4 and 6) were born here, I was wondering if there is an english-speaking community for them (and us) to keep the language fluent and to make new friends and share our adventures ! ) Looking forward to meet the paradaise soon!!!!! Love! Lola
Hello. I am planning to stay in Florianopolis for 1-2 months, from jan. 8ish - Mid march. I am a kitesurf instructor, and speak portuguese. I am looking for somewhere clean, safe and preferably close to the beach since I dont have a car. If any has a house/apartment to share I am alone and just need a bedroom. Thanks in advance for your help. You can contact me at kiteboarding at windyaddiction .com Any other suggestions and help are greatly appreciated.
I am travelling to Brazil for one month with three friends (4 in total) – December 8th – January 6th. We are four 25 year old men who like to party, surf and spend the majority of our time on a sunny beach and socialising. We are flying into Rio and then I was thinking that we could travel down the coast to Florianopolis for Christmas (roughly 22nd Dec – 29th Dec) and in between visit Ilha Grande, Paraty, Sao Paulo and maybe somewhere else. Following this we are planning to go to back to Rio for the last week of our trip and for New Years Eve. We do understand that this is an expensive time of year but we don’t mind. I have a few questions: • Presumably the weather will be fantastic? • Will we need to book accommodation for all of our destinations? • Rio for New Years we are looking into accommodation now. Can anyone recommend areas that are lively for partying, safe, easy to commute around Rio (even at night) and under £40 per night per person? Will we end up staying in a hostel (this is not preferable)? I look forward to hearing peoples thoughts. I can’t wait to reach Brazil be quite honest!!
Hey there, Just booked a flight to brazil on supershort notice, will head to Floripa for a week or two. I wanna learn surfing, hangout with relaxed and easy ppl and just have a great time in the sun. What i dont wanna have: posh nightclubs, luxury hotels and all that stuff...
Hi we are traveling From Australia to carnival from 12 FEB to 19th MARCH. Any suggestions for a great hotel to stay at in centro? I am young female traveling with my mother aged 55. I would love to hear your suggestions. Thankyou
My husband and I are going on 15/May to Floripa and I'm trying to find out if there is a better place to rent a car than from the airport ( Taxes ans fees) or if is the same and if any recomendations for a good and afordable company. We are having a hard time making areservation because some hotels want a payment in bank deposit first and I don't live in Brazil so we are going to rent a car( we were doing that to start with) drive around the island and maybe even stay in diferent places( we are staying in the area for 3 nigths). Everything looks so great that is hard to make a decision. I have not been in that area since I was 12 yrs old and want to show my husband a little of the south. Last yera we went to Iguassu. Family base is Niteroi, RJ. Looks loke the island regions vary in activities and we will love to explore the options. Thank you in advance. Maria
Hi. We are heading down to Floripa 2-9th March and are torn between staying in Lagoa de Conceicao and Juerere International. We like to party but are not really into big club nights, more good lively bars with an atmosphere. Also we'd like to see what was going on during Carnival. Which is the better place to say, bearing in mind they are 35kms apart?? Thanks!
Will I have a problem as a tourist in Florianópolis if I only speak English? Is it a safe city for one person traveling alone?
Hi we are two young males visiting Floronopolis We are looking to party and relax on the beach, but also like to take in some sights. We are in Floronopolis for 7 nights Have done some research and I am thinking.... Staying at a hostel in: Lagoa da conceicao, intially to give us the close to party aspect, as well as relatively close to the beaches. Should we we stay here for 7 nights and would you suggest mixing it up? I was thinking maybe spending a few nights across in Barra? Any other thoughts? Thanks.

We love our home in the U.S., but realize if we truly want to retire we must leave it and our country. We are 64 and 68, and in a year will have a monthly fixed income of about 3,000 USD. We plan (and hope) to rent our house here for a year and go to Floripa to try to find an area and house that we would like to buy, and see if this beautiful area is for us. I have two older yorkshire terriers (both 12 now) and I realize this is a drawback when finding a place to stay while looking for a house. I only found one hotel on trip advisor that was pet friendly. I cannot leave my pups behind. Any suggestions for where or who I would contact to find more places that welcome us and our pets next year for a year? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Barbara
Does anyone know if you can rent stand up paddle boards in Florianopolis? Thanks.
My significant other lives in Florianópolis (I'm in the US) and I'm trying to plan a trip to see him. I'm working on learning português brasileiro right now, and I know all the legal motions I have to go trough (getting a passport, etc). I'm just wondering any additional information I should know before traveling there. Places to stay on a budget? What to expect? I've never traveled out of country, I'm quite nervous!!
I'm having a hard time finding websites where I can rent apartments in Florianopolis. Can you please give me a list of all the websites you know where I can rent an apartment in Florianopolis? Ideally, we want to stay in either Juere International or Juere Traditional. Thank you.
I am going to be in Floripa for the New Years and I am trying to figure out where to stay and where to party. I think that the North part of the island is where we want to stay and originally wanted to stay at Jurere Beach Village but it seemed a bit expensive. We are only be in town for 4 nights and most places require a 7 night stay. So dividing the5000 US price tag by 4 just did not make sense for us. That said, everywhere else around there seems really expensive except this place named Pousada dos Golfinhos Hotel that looks decent (but quaint). Has anyone ever stayed at this place or can you possibly recommend another place to stay that doesnt require a week stay or is cheaper on the north island beaches? Also can you please recommend places to party for New Years? Again, I know of trendy Taiko but seems overly expensive. El Divino appears to have a cool New Years party which is closer to our range (I think around250 a ticket). I hear Praia Mole has a good party as well. Does anyone know anything about that? Thanks for your help!
Does anyone know of any direct flights from BA to Floripa? I found one on Aerolineas but it's only available on weekends. I need a direct flight on December 1st. Thank you
Has anyone stayed in Jurere for New Years? If so, any advice/suggestions on some nice hotels would be great. Also, which would be a better spot for New Years...Praia Mole or Jurere? Thanks
Thank you Cassiovieggore! Is the Praia Mole Eco Village a nice hotel? Are there any other nice hotels to pick from in that area? I should probably tell you we will be there for New Years. Thanks again!
So I've been hearing that both Lagoa da Concieco and Praia Mole are great places to stay. Is one better as far as beach and nightlife? Also, can you please suggest a nice hotel in that area? Thank you!
My two friends and I are living in Buenos Aires and we are trying to plan a trip to Florianopolis for this March. Since we are on a limited budget, we were hoping for some advice on options for getting there from BA as well as places that we should think about staying. Please let me know if you have any insight on this. -Ted
Are there direct flight to Florianopolis from Buenos Aires?
I'm a bit confused between El Divino Club, Lounge, Beach Club and Restaurant. Are they all in the same location or are they all different establishments????
I'm wondering what is the most convenient way to reach Balneario de Camboriu. Does anyone know if there is any public transport, eg. bus services, from Floripa to Camboriu? If yes, how long does it take? Or would flying to Curitiba and then going to Camboriu be any easier? Thanks, Joe
Heading to the island early February with 3 friends from the UK and wasn't sure the best place to stay for beach and nightlife for about a week. Ideally would like to stay on the beach and be able to get to bars/clubs. Any ideas? Thank you if so
My wife and I (mid 50's) are traveling arriving in Sao Paulo in early November on our way to Uruguay. We would like to spend a few weeks looking at the south coast of Brazil. The outside of Santa C island looks nice as well as Garopaba. We travel on a shoestring (30 dollars a night) and like to stay in one place a week at a time. Anyone have any suggestions. Kit
My friends and i are travelling from Australia to Brazil at the end of the year. We have to get from Florianopolis to Porto Alegre between February 05-February 15 2008. I was wondering if bus is the best way to do this, how often do they run, what costs are involved and how long does it take?
