Will need to kill some time the morning of our arrival in Florence. Will fly in around 10:30. Staying with a group in Grassina but check in isn't until 4:00 p.m. Are there cafes near the airport? Can't go far with suitcases in tow. Any other recommendations of what to do while killing time? Thanks so much.
Sometimes the hotel will let you leave your luggage in their storage room until your room is ready. Can you check with them? That would leave you free to go anywhere you want.

There isn't too much near the airport or at the airport in Florence. But you have some time to enjoy Florence if you want to go into town. While I don't believe there is a luggage storage area at the airport (I double checked their website and didn't see one there either: aeroporto.firenze.it/EN/inde.... However, since you have several hours, perhaps you would be interested in taking the SITA bus from the airport to the train station, store your luggage at the train station, then walk into Florence (10-15 minutes at the most to the Duomo). You could see a few things or have a relaxing meal before heading back to the airport. My VT tip for the SITA bus can be found at "SITA bus to/from the airport and city center" - By Bus Tip by brendareed. The shuttles run every 1/2 hour and are five euros per person. You can take you luggage on the bus, which will drop you off in front of the train station, where you can store your luggage. See this link for luggage storage details: grandistazioni.it/cms/v/inde... Just a thought so you don't waste a day sitting around the airport. Enjoy Florence!

Brenda, Thank you so much. Your suggestions are incredibly helpful. I would never have thought of that. I'm a rookie at this kind of communication and I couldn't have gotten a better first time response. Brenda

Brenda, Is the name of the train station I want, Roma Termini? What a great option to be able to store our luggage there while we start eating & exploring. Thanks again.
