SOGNADAL TO FLAM AND BACK IN TWO DAYS

by pvmike Online Now Jan 18, 2012 at 1:37 PM

WE ARE ON A TIGHT SCHEDULE DURING OUR AUGUST VISIT TO SCANDANAVIA BUT WANT TO SEE FLAM AND SURROUNDS. WOULD LIKE TO FLY FROM OSLO TO SOGNDAL AND GET TO FLAM EARLIEST ON DAY ONE. TOUR AREA IN BEST WAY POSSIBLE THEN GO BACK TO SOGNADAL ON DAY TWO TO CATCH FLIGHT BACK TO OSLO LEAVING SOGNADAL AROUND 18:00. HOW TO GO TO/FROM FLAM QUICKEST WAY? BEST WAY TO ENJOY FLAM/FJORDS IN TWO, HALF DAYS? HOW LONG BETWEEN SOGNADAL AND FLAM AND REVERSE, I PRESUME BUS IS BEST BUT AM WILLING TO RENT A CAR IF IT'S NOT TOO CONFUSING, OR IS THERE A FERRY THAT DOESN'T TAKE TOO LONG? THANKS, PVMIKE

Thanks for the reply. The Bergen connection is obviously the place to look. But capital letters tiresome, really.

    Hi and welcome!

You have already got some brilliant advice here. Skip Sogndal if you don't have a specific reason to go there. From Bergen you can do the so called Norway In a Nutshell (NIN). It's all by public transport. You can book it as a package, or copy it on your own. Either leave your luggage in Bergen and do a roundtrip and fly back to Oslo, or if time permits go by train all the way to Oslo.

    NIN:

    Porter service:

    Have a great trip!
