For the first time since we go to USA, we will be in America the 4th July. If we keep my current schedule, we will be in Flagstaff at this date. How is the Indendance Day in Flagstaff ? or in the vicinity ? Thanks RAY
Government offices, Banks, and some stores will be closed, but most of the restaurants, gas stations, mall stores, etc will be open. Fireworks will be modest by any large city standards--Do not expect a big celebration. There will be a parade, evening fireworks display, and more flags than usual but that will be about all.

4th of July in Flagstaff is no different than anywhere else. You'll see fireworks after sundown and many shops will be closed. We visited the Grand Canyon on Independence Day 1998, and drove toward home late that night. Saw fireworks in three different New Mexico towns that night. It's the same everywhere. You might like the western history about Flagstaff and really enjoy those San Francisco Mountains that rise out of nowhere on the Arizona plains, but guard Flagstaff jealously. Flagstaff was founded 1882 -- a true western town.
