      Tango Partner Needed

Buenos Aires May 8, 2015 at 3:45 AM

I'm a middle aged female traveling solo at the end of next month and into the first week of July. I'd like to take classes to meet other advanced beginners and I'd, also like to take private lessons to hone the subtleties of the dance. Can I get info ahead of time so I can make the arrangements/ plans? It seems it would help me select the right section of the city to book accommodations. I'd also like to hire a dance partner so I can dance at milongos. From my reading, it sounds like locals normally dance only with locals. Thank you for your help!
      Truly,
      Shari

      Hire a tango instructor

Buenos Aires May 9, 2015 at 9:48 AM

Is it possible to hire an English speaking tango teacher for private lessons/ classes that I can schedule ahead of a visit to Buenos Aires? From my reading on the tango scene, it sounds like foreigners aren't taken into the fold as dance partners, so I'd have to take classes to get to know potential other foreigners to dance with if I want to dance at milangos. Is this an accurate assessment? I'm trying to weigh the value of traveling or not to BA for the purpose of really learning to dance tango.
      Thanks so much!

      Safety around the country

      Argentina May 2, 2015 at 7:25 AM

      Hi all,
after 5 years I'm about to go back to the gorgeous Argentina. I understand the economic crisis led to an increased level of crimes especially in B. Aires so I guess I'll use "extra" common sense going around the city. I'm wondering how the situation is around the country, specifically in the north and during bus night trip. Five years ago I travel the whole Patagonia by bus and never had even a single moment I feelt unsafe... In B. Aires last time I stayed in Palermo and honestly I had no big issues going around the city by myself.
      Thanks for any advice!
      Roberto

by klaus1967 Online Now Feb 20, 2007 at 7:34 AM

      Hi all,

we are planning a trip to El Chalten in March 2007. We bought the useful book "Trekking in the Patagonian Andes" but unfortunately it does not contain any GPS waypoints.

Could anyone please provide us with the GPS waypoints for

      Laguna de los Tres
Campamento Rio Blanco / Poincenot / Agostini
      Glaciar Piedras Blances
      Mirador Cerro Terro
      ...

Thank you in advance ! Any hints for hiking in this area are very welcome.

      hello there,

i am staying in el calafate with 2 friends, and we plan on hiking in Fitz Roy for 3-4 days. we have contacted several tour companies, and they are charging ~$800 for a private guide. is this expensive, and is there a cheaper way of finding a group to join once we get to el chalten? i would prefer to go with a group.

short walks in Fitz Roy - El Chaltén area?

by MariusG Online Now Nov 9, 2003 at 1:51 PM

We plan a trip to Patagonia in January and I thought to stay, among others, in for a couple of days, and taking several short walks of 2-3 hours each. One opinion that I got says bad idea - all the area is steep, mainly for mountain climbing by experienced sportsman or at least trekkers in good shape; the other opinion says good idea, since there are plenty of easy walks, for all ages and fitness. What is your experience? Any advice will be appreciated.
