Camping in Finnmark in August

by Vince1974 Online Now May 2, 2012 at 8:00 AM

Hi, My girlfriend and myself are going camping in Finnmark in August, we'll be there for around 10 days and plan to generally travel round and take in the cool scenic environment. Now I am not exactly sure what kind of gear to bring. Would we need polar level sleeping bags in a tent with blackout fabric? If someone can give me some pointers, I'd be more than happy! Thanks, Vincent.

Temp. at night should be around 15°C down to 0°C (if you're unlucky), not polar conditions. You definitely need a good mat and a waterprroof tent, and it must also be bugproof...Not sure about "blackout", but if you need darkness, better bring a sleep mask. In august the nights start being darker, but not pitch black.

Thanks for your answer. I suppose we'll just have to keep our fingers crossed for the 15 degrees night time temperature and be ready for whatever can be thrown at us.
