    • Visiting Lake Garda gardens

      Malcesine 3 hours ago

We will be staying in Malcesine & would like to visit the Heller Botanical garden nr Gardone Riviera and on another day - the Isla del Garda - if visits by the public are permitted? What is the best way to get to those gardens? Should we take the ferry across from Malcesine & then a bus down to the Heller Botanic Garden, or take the bus South from Malcesine and then a boat across from another departure point? If visits to the Isla del Garda are allowed - how does can we get there? Thanks for any advice

    • Family bike rides

      Sirmione Jul 26, 2015 at 2:09 AM

Hello, we are traveling to lake Garda in August and would like to hire bikes. Does anyone know of any easy bike rides from Riva del Garda or Sirmione that would be suitable for young children (8 and 10)?

Also, does anyone have any recommendations for outdoorsy activities suitable for children at or near either of these locations?

We'll be staying in Sirmione for the second part of the holiday and we're hoping to use this as a base to explore places such as Venice and Verona- are the roads around Sirmione likely to be very congested?
      Many thanks!

Thinking of studying in Politecnico di Bari

      Bari Jul 25, 2015 at 12:07 PM

I am from Serbia, I have one more year of high school and i plan on continuing my education in Italy. The options are still open but i plan on studying in Politecnico di Bari as the south of the country is closer to me and probably less expensive that the north. Now i am only Google searching Bari, but i would like someone that had experience with studying in Bari(Italians or foreigners opinion welcome) to tell me how is it. I am also curious about the sea, since it is a port city i believe the water is not the cleanest to bath in? Also just open for experiences and recommendations of Bari citizens and students. Grazie!

    • Ferrara or Bologna?

by jlg198 Online Now Nov 24, 2010 at 11:11 PM

I had thought of basing myself for a week in Bologna next October, as a city that is not too touristy and is good for food. But I am now reading that it is very congested and noisy, with lots of graffiti and some areas of the city that are not so safe. So I am thinking I might be happier with a smaller place - and am considering Ferrara. It needs to be on the railway line as I would like to do day trips to Ravenna and to Florence. Would Ferrara be OK for a week? Is there a farmers market? Does anyone know of an inexpensive apartment for holiday rentalfor two people - we like to go to the markets and bring home food to cook ourselves. Would there be opera or concerts at that time of year?

by Barkay Online Now Jul 3, 2010 at 2:14 AM

2 years ago I visited Ferrara, but unfortunately the church of the convent Corpus Domini with tombs of d'Este was closed for heavy reconstruction.
I'll stop in Bologna for 2 days this October, and it is not far from Ferrara.
May be somebody knows is the church open already for tourists, or it still under reconstruction?
      Thank you in advance.

    • Casa Degli Artisti

by jennifer_m Online Now Aug 17, 2006 at 3:23 PM

      Hi,

I am travelling to Italy next March and was thinking of stopping
for a few days in Ferrara. The problem is that I am alone, on a
budget, and Ferrara apparently has no hostel anymore per the
official hostelling organization. Casa Degli Artisti seems to
be the cheapest hotel (for a single room, not double), has anyone
stayed there? I don't care if the rooms are very small (who goes
to Italy to sit in their hotel room?) or it has no TV or things
like that. I'm just looking for reasonably clean and safe. (I know
Italy is much safer than the US in general but a woman travelling
      alone gets nervous)

      Thanks,
      Jennifer
