I represent a group of med students. We are willing to visit scotland's malt whisky trail in July and we have some questions regarding it. First of all, after walking the great glen way from Fort William, we will be traveling from Inverness on foot or by public transport to the region of the whisky trail. We will only be able to stay there for 2 days and we'd like to see and experience the essence of scottish whisky. Would you be able to recommend us the best way to travel between the distilleries? Could you also suggest us which distilleries are a must-see, since we probably wont be able to visit them all?
We've also heard that in July the great glen way is occupied with small flies which are unbearable. Is it true?
Thanks for your advice :)
What is the distance from the Perthshire town center to Gleneagles Hotel? Is it accessible by public transportation?
Appreciate any information regarding the area (places of interest, good value accommodations (80-100 Euros).
Thank you.
Driving from Edinburgh to Uig. Leaving around 11am on Monday. Any tips on which route to take? Ferry to Lochmaddy at 6pm so how long will it take to drive approximately? Still got to hire a car, from Edinburgh...
Will be in Edinburgh this week-end, and was thinking of booking a table at the Witchery for the wife's 50th birthday. I see there are two dining rooms, and I want to choose the best. Anyone know the difference? One is called the secret garden and the other the Witchery.
thanks

My parents are visiting the Outer Hebrides e.g. North / South Uist next month. They will have a car. Information on the ferries says "booking advisable", but is advance booking likely to be necessary or can they just turn up? They want to do some cycling so would prefer to see how the weather is before making a crossing. Many thanks,
L

Hi , I'm going to be in England this summer for a summer camp and I was thinking about visiting Scotland but I'll only have a weekend to do this trip. I was planning to take a train from London to Edinburgh on Friday and come back on Sunday. But I'd also like to see Highlands as well, so is it possible for me to take another train to Inverness from Edinburgh after a day in Edinburgh ?
To sum up I'm planning :
-London-Edinburgh [ Thursday afternoon via train (It's 4.5 hours I guess ? ) ]
Friday : Edinburgh
- Edinburgh-Inverness [ Friday night via train ( 3.5 - 4 hours ? )
Saturday : Inverness ( Loch Ness? , Cawdor Castle? , Highland Wildlife Park?, Eilean Donan Castle ? )
- Inverness-London [ Sunday morning via train ]
So what do you think ? Is it possible ? Any suggestions ?
( by the way I'm 16 years old and going to get a BritRailYouthPass )
Is it early September a good time to visit Edinburgh and Scotland, in respect to the weather and rain ?
Thank you
Gracias !!!

Does anyone know how many existent cemeteries there are on Fair Isle? Has anyone surveyed the memorial stones or are there records of those who are buried? I am a descendant of some of those who left in the 1830s and would very much appreciate any information. Thanks, Phil Pursley for more information on my Fair Isle ancestors check out my Home Page at familytreemaker.genealogy.co...
Would like to hear from any other VT'ers that have been to this fantastic Island in the Atlantic!
