HI! I would like to ask you if there are any public transport from Ohrid to the monastery St. Naum? Or where from I can see the schedule? Thank you!
Hi, in beginning of June I'm planning to go Ohrid-Pogradec-Brajcino. Hence have a couple of questions:
is there a bus from Orhid to Sv Naum border crossing? and how frequent/reliable it is?
would it be easy to find budget accommodation in Pogradec/Tushemisht? Staying in a private house is ideal.
Are there any taxis around Sv Naum that we could hire all the way to Brajcino (90km), how much would it potentially cost?
Thank you in advance, all advice and experience are greatly appreciated!

Is it true that trash and garbage strewn all over public areas seriously mars the beauty of the country?
After the bad news that the Kopanki Mountain hut burned down in January 2013, now also the lodging houses of the famous Treskavec Monastery near Prilep burned down. The old church and dining room were luckily spared... See here for some pictures: vecer.com.mk/?ItemID=05C7EF8... zoom.mk/index.php/vesti/make... ohridnews.com/index.php?mod=... press24.mk/story/makedonija/... Apparently, also the post-office in Skopje, a remarkable communist-style concrete building suffered from a fire.. Not a good year for Macedonia... Does anybody have some additional information about the Treskavec Monastery?
Hi, I'm planning to hike from Kopanki to Prespa lake in may via Pilester peak, and have a couple of questions. Is the pass quite straight forward (don,t wanna wander off to Greece). Are there any places to stay in avrali or nearby. Private house ideal. How easy it is to get from Prespa to Ohrid Looking forward to Macedonia for the first time!!!! Thank you in advance guys
The Kopanki mountain hut in Pelister National Park (near Bitola) burned down earlier this week... This information is in Macedonian only unfortunately: vecer.com.mk/?ItemID=AB71E5D... Does somebody know when/if it will be restored in the future? Dennis
Hello. In March I will be visiting Skopje before making a return journey to Podgorica. Does the bus service run in March? How long does it take and how much is it? I visited before and did the same (one way) journey but got a lift off some other tourists via Nis as they wanted to avoid Kosovo. I assume Kosovo is now fine. But is it possible if no bus to take a hire car?
I was just curious which area of Macedonia near a regional metropole (for example, the region near Strumica or region near Bitola) offers the the scenic beauty (countryside, lakes, rolling hills, mountains, rivers, etc)? I'm trying to avoid areas with "ugly" modern development (concrete buildings, big highways, industrial buildings, urban/suburban sprawl) and get more of the feel one would find in Croatia or even Tuscany. One factor that's of overriding interest is the area with the widest variety of fresh fruits, vegetables, and foods (e.g. supermarkets, farmers' markets, etc). Thank you.
Hi All! Does anybody know what is the cheapest (and fastest) way to get from Belgrad to Ohrid? I saw Galeb Ohrid bus is 1800 MKD/one way. And what about Belgrad-Skopje by train (and than by bus to Ohrid)? Do you know, how much is it? /We want to start fom Hungary, Szeged, via Subotica./ Thanks so much.

Hey Everyone, Does anyone know of a bus from Skopje to Thessaloniki but not at 6 am? It seems as if there is only one bus company which does this route? Also, from Thessaloniki to Skopje? It seems that only one company does this route at 5 pm everyday? Thanks!
Are there any flight from Italy to Ohrid? Could you suggest some day trips from there?
Hi Guys, Can someone please tell me is there buses everyday from Skopje to Thessaloniki, or is it just Monday and Wednesday? also how long does the journey take?. Thank you!
Any VT member that lives in Bitola. ? How is the road to Thessaloniki (GR). How quick can the drive be made from Bitola. ?
Ciao, I'm simply trying to understand if the trains from Thessaloniki to Skopje are still not operating (but i presume that the answer is no, such a pity). I'll be in Thessaloniki at the end of the month and i would like to spend the first part of my trip in Macedonia (so just the south of it, i guess). I've read all your precious information (in your personal pages, as Valentina and Dennis, great work guys!) and even some of the previous threads, so this should be the easy way to get to Macedonia : - (10:50) Thessaloniki airport - then bus n°78 to the city - (15:30) Ktel bus station --> Florina (18:00) - then taxi driver to Bitola (first night here) How much it would cost (more or less) this taxi? Still around 30€ as i've read before? And do i have to reserve it before? How? Next step will be hiring a car for the following two-three days, 'cause i intend to stay in Orhid and in the meanwhile i'd like to move to Mavrovo, Pelister and Galicica parks for some hiking, not depending from bus or taxi. Am i doing the right thing? Should not be that expensive, i hope. Sorry for all the answers, but it's the first time i'm scheduling a trip without my own car! so thanks in advance, Dario.

Hello all! I'm very excited to visit Macedonia soon between 21-25 May 2012. My parents are both from Prilep (they moved to Turkey around 1956) and I plan to spend 2 nights in Skopje and 2 nights in Prilep to discover the places that I was always told about. Would you be able to recommend a nice place to stay in both of these places? Also could you please tell me about the Turkish districts of these two cities? I just want to have a feeling of my parents' life there... Regards, Tarki

As a youth group at thirties Planning to visit Skopje about 3 nights this freezing January, will stay close to City Park, what can we do during the day and night? Any malls to spend time during day so we don t freeze? Where should we head to at Friday and Saturday Nights? Heard a place called Makedonski kuka, is it worth to visit?
