    • Things for Kids to do in Nice

      Nice Yesterday

Hi all, I was in Nice 2 years ago for the first time and loved it however with the kids they got very bored very quick, I am wanting to go back next year at the end of May and was wondering if there are any local playgrounds or parks for kids to go to ages 3 1/2 and 5. I know of the park in Antibes and will go there but local parks I would like to find. Also is it true that there is always an amusement park in the old town ? Thank you in advance :)

Biking from Villefranche sur Mer to Monaco via Cap Ferat

      Villefranche-sur-Mer Jun 11, 2013 at 10:50 AM

My family and I will be arriving by cruise ship in Villefranche sur Mer at 9 am and departing at 9 pm. We would like to rent bikes and ride to Monaco via Cap Ferat and return to Villefranche sur Mer. How long will that take us to bike? Are there any cafes or sights along the way that should not be missed?

As I see it, I can take a train fram Vallauris to Nice and then take either a train or a plane to Paris. But I'm not sure how to get from Vallauris to Paris the easiest and cheapest.way?

      Grasse Jun 11, 2013 at 7:47 AM

Hi, I will be attending a summer course at Prodarom in Grasse this summer. My question is regarding accommodation - suggestions for nice hotels or possibly apartment rental and whether it is better to stay close to the GIP or in the centre and go by bus or foot? I have not been to Grasse so am unfamiliar with the distances between places. I will not have a car but like to walk :) Any advise is much appreciated! Best regards, Sylvia

Good Shore Excursions in Toulon, France?

      Toulon May 20, 2013 at 2:53 PM

Our ship will be docking in Toulon, France early December. I am thinking Aix en Provence is probably the best choice. Does anyone know of good shore excursion companies? I would really like to tour a perfumerie or lavender field, but I don't think lavender is in season that time of year :(

Where is the bus stop in Arles for the SNCF bus to the Avignon TGV station?

      Arles Jun 2, 2013 at 1:03 PM

We were planning to take a train from Arles to Avignon and then the navette to the Avignon TGV station, but I noticed in Rick Steves that there is a direct SNCF bus to the Avignon TGV station. We would take that on the way back to Aix-en-Provence, so I think it would save a little time. I looked and saw that there is a bus station in Arles, as well as the train station, but then it dawned on me that Rick Steves didn't say where to catch the SNCF bus. Anyone know?

    • From Nice to Eze by bike and back?

by Carrot137 Online Now Mar 29, 2012 at 12:57 PM

During my stay in Nice this August I was thinking of renting a bike and cycling around the area. One of the places that came to mind is the city of Eze. The problem is that is perched atop a mountain. Is it feasible to travel by bike up there? How long would it take to travel up? It would be a wonderful experience to do so, but would like some insight. My level of fitness I would rate is above average, so no problems in that area.

I have looked extensively on the net to find if property is sold in Eze Village. There are plenty of web sites offering property for sale in Eze, but I cannot find one where it is for sale in the actual perched village of Eze. Is is protected as a national landmark?

    • Is this a reasonable itinerary?

by nancebe Online Now Aug 10, 2008 at 4:21 PM

We will arrive Monte Carlo(cruise ship) 8:00am. Is it reasonable to think we can get to Eze village on our own(bus?). Would it be better to take a taxi. How much time should we allow. Should we taxi to Nice? We are considering stopping in Nice to see the Chagall museum or proceeding to Menton to enjoy a late afternoon/early evening at the beach. We hope to take the train from Nice. Our cruise departs at 23:00(11:00pm)

We are arriving by cruiseship next week. We want to start in Nice. I've read that there is bus from Vieux Nice to Eze. Does this bus stop near the top or at the base? On the return is there a bus to Villefranche or is a taxi better? Cost? Are there Taxis waiting or will it be difficult to find one? Thanks BillyBob

From Villefranche to Eze Posted: Wed August 22, 2007 09:25 AM PDT We will be on a cruise in October that will be stopping in Villefranche. We have never been to France before and only have 1 day to see a few things. One of the places that seemed very interesting was Eze. What is the best way to get from Villefranche to Eze. My husband,14 year old son and I will be going on this trip. Does the train go close to Eze and if so what one. Is a bus a better option? Any help would be greatly appreciated. We really don't want to do the tours from the ship. We like to explore on our own.

by nv2hogs Online Now Mar 22, 2006 at 5:38 PM

We are on a cruise in the Mediterranean and will stop in Monaco for one day. We are taking a tour in the morning and come back from there at 12:30. We were thinking of taking a taxi to Eze and back. We could also take a tour from the cruise ship but we rather go by ourself. Does anyone know how much a taxi for this distance is, is it feasable to go to Eze and back to the ship in about 4.5 hours? Are there taxis waiting in Eze for return or do we have to let ours wait? So many questions and maybe one of you can help us. What is your advise or experience on that? Thanks in advance, MS in NV

9-10 days too long to stay here?

by rachel_sun Online Now Apr 21, 2005 at 4:11 AM

Hello I am thinking of going to South France this summer.Found a beautiful bed and breakfast with swimming pool just behind Eze.Looked at Eze pages on here and it looks a stunning village.Do you think 9-10 days here is too long and I will get bored?I am looking for a relaxing break and will have a hire car so can travel around etc.Looking at other peoples pages on here it seemed most people only visited for the day.I like walking and beaches and scenery and sipping a drink in a cafe etc.Does Eze have a good selection of cafes and places to eat?I have not booked the bed and breakfast yet as I wanted to check the location is right for me.I fancy a scenic and relaxing location where I can unwind and walk and take pics and sample the local food. Thanks Rachel.

Hi: I'm a freelance journalist writing a quickie story on Eze for a travel mag, and can you believe it: Sixty-one pages of notes, and I'm still not sure whether transportation in Eze is all by foot! Seems like there're three main roads that go *by* Eze, but then you have to get out and walk *in* Eze because of the narrow streets and stairs??? But then it seems there are bus stops *within* Eze??? Or can you drive *some* places *in* Eze? Please e-mail me directly, at mercurial626 @ hotmail.com. Thanks so much for any help. Cindy

Our family will arrive at Villefranche port (Nice) on Sun Jul 27 via RCL cruise . A friend of mine strongly recommends us to visit Eze. I am not sure how to get there from the port? A taxi? How much will it cost? Or can we take the train or bus? Any one has been there that can share some ideas?
