Hello. I plan to stay in Exeter from July 25th to September 30th, so I am looking for accommodation during the summer. Therefore I'd like to know where I can find a list of accommodations for rent. Most sites (like accommodationforstudents.com... require me to be a student at the University of Exeter, so that I can log in and apply for rooms. Or the rooms are only available during the academic year. Now I am becoming a bit desperate and I am looking for other sites/sources to find a suitable place to stay. I really appreciate any helpful advice. Thanks in advance.

Why not stay at the University - this is quite usual as they have lots of rooms available during the summer holidays - see exeter.ac.uk/eventexeter/bed... . However note that the University starts up again in mid September, so you might have to spend the last week in an ordinary hotel.

Thank you both for your suggestions. Staying at the University would be very pleasant, but it is also very expensive: a room-only (standard room) would cost 24.95 pounds per night. A 9 week stay would cost about 1574 pounds, that's too much. I think I'll look for private letted rooms.

Private short term accommodation in Exeter is pretty sparse unless you are willing to spend a lot of money. If you don't mind dorm accommodation then there's the Globe Backpackers hostel which has a weekly rate of £75. exeterbackpackers.co.uk/exet...

Thanks everybody for your suggestions. I have found a room to rent at http://www.spare-room.co.uk . It is by far the cheapest and most convenient solution. But I'll keep suggestions like "Exeter backpackers" in my mind when I decide to stay a little longer.
