Seeking public transportation options traveling from Tavira to Evora on May 11, 2013.
we are coming by car from Castelo de Vide and will visit sites of Evora for 2 days in July. Should we stay in Evora itself or base ourselves somewhere nearby (Moura? Estremoz?) we dont want a fancy poussada ,just a nice clean little residencial. It seems that most of the places within the city are very expensive, and the ones that arent seem to have bad reviews on here. Also is parking going to be a problem inside the city? thanks all.
I always like to visit some local market.
1) does the train ride to evora really take 3 hrs, if then should I catch a train from lisbon 6AM? 2) Chapel of bones, is it really worth it to go in and see? or it is just too creepy? does it cost 2 euro? or it is more like donation 3) The Roman Temple, this is just a pic taking thing right, seems not much to it 4) Cathedral, it costed 1 euro is it donation or? worth it to go in? 5) Inquisition palace , is it worth to go in? how much? 6) CIty council of Évora Palace of Vasco da Gama Palace of the Dukes of Cadaval Palácio D. Manuel Palace of The Counts of Basto all worth it to go in or just taking pic outside? 7) Silver Water Aqueduct it seems to be outside of the town, how do I get there and back? any bus from center of the town? 8) also I heard the wines here are good too, can I easily get them from the store? how cheap is it? 9) if I get to evora by 9, what time do I need to leave if I want to see all before I leave? 6PM enough? many thanks I know I asked a lot of question at once 7)

Also, I've been trying to look up train timetables in both the Spanish and Portugese sites but can only check national timetables. We're considering Evora as a short-break destination (coming from London) to celebrate my wife's birthday early next month. Do any travellers who know it have advice on: - 1) whether they think this a good idea; 2) getting there from Lisbon (train? bus? hire car?); 3) mid-range accommodation; 4) and/or unmissable places to see and in which to eat? Many thanks in advance for any and all tips, Robin

Hi, Any recommendations for budget, comfy sleeps in Evora, Estremoz or marble villages area? Do I need to book ahead? (Sept.16 - 1 night). Also, we will be going on to Lisbon next. Should we drop our rental car and take a bus or train from Evora to Lisbon, or should we drive? How long does it take? If we drive, we plan to drop our car once we get to Lisbon. I've heard driving in Lisbon should be avoided. Would it be best to drop our car at the airport, then take a bus or taxi into the city? You excellent advise is appreciated.Marciajo
