Not many. You can go by Rede-Expressos bus (motor coach) via Lisbon thus:

Tavira leave 0730, 1000, 1120 and 1530 taking about 4 hours to get to Lisbon

thence Lisbon to Evora by the same company at

1345 (there is a bus at 12noon but too risky a connection), 1500, 1715 and 2030. Lisbon to Évora takes about 90 minutes.

Their ticketing system would not grant me a journey via Lisbon (and the shown alternatives do not run on winter Saturdays!) so you may have to buy two tickets. You can do this at Tavira bus station and I would go there a day or two before travel, or on line at www.rede-expressos.pt

By train is not easy as Évora has only two trainson Saturdays with connections from the south. Also, local service at Tavira is being plagued by strikes and industrial disputes.

If you want to take a chance, there are trains thus:

0614 from Tavira, changing trains at Faro and Pinhal Novo, likewise at 1356. The train journey is about 5 hours in all, total cost about 42 Euros. You can buy tickets at Tavira station but on line only for the bit between Faro and Évora. Reservation is compulsory Faro - Évora.

You could also get the 1255 bus from Tavira to Faro and take the train from there. It leaves Faro at 1505. You would have about an hour to wait at Faro. The fast trains from Faro are not affected by these particular strikes.

Train times and reservations at www.cp.pt available maximum 30 days before travel process can be done in English if you click the little flag icon at the top of the page next to where it days 'Acesso Rápido´.

I hope that helps. Do check everything nearer the time as train and bus timetables here can be changed without warning.

Please check the direct Expresso Bus from Albufeira to Evora. That might be a good solution, if there's one that day. ;)

There are three direct journeys between Faro and Évora on Saturdays, at 0815, 1115 and 1630. These are the the same that pass through Albufeira on the way. Rede Expressos site does not show this an option starting from Tavira. Thanks to previous poster for suggesting this option.

Connections by local bus from Tavira to Faro on Saturdays are few, trains even fewer.

Tavira to Faro local bus journey, with connection, takes one hour (separate ticket needed) 0855, 1200, 1255, 1510 (On Saturdays the first bus from Tavira to Faro doesn't get there until 0850)

Trains Tavira - Faro journey 40 minutes at 0614, 0749, 0934, 1152 and 1356 subject to strikes etc.
