Hotel Deals

by syllybabe Online Now Dec 29, 2005 at 3:32 AM

A few months back I was reading a VT member's page and came across his/her recommendation for a great website where you could find excellent deals for amazing hotels in Europe that offer really good, low rates. Unfortunately, I didn't bookmark the url and now I can't even remember which VT member that was although I did leave a comment on his/her page saying that I thought that site was excellent and hope to use it for future trips. Anyway, since I doubt if I could find that tip again amidst countless accommodation tips here, I hope someone could give me the site he found most helpful in getting hotel deals from. Thanks! :-) Syl

How lucky you are! I want to go back to Rome, too.

Hi Just checked your "latest comments" on your homepage. You left a comment on CoAir13's London page on 1 November re eurocheapo.com I guess that's the one? :-)

Clever? No Too much time on my hands? Yes! ;-) It does look a good site, I've also bookmarked it. A couple more sites that you may find useful, and may not already be aware of, are: www.hostelbookers.com www.hostelworld.com Both of these, despite their names, have lots of budget hotels in cities all over the world (not just hostels!). I've used these two sites to book most of my accommodation on recent trips.

Thank you very, very much! That's it! You are clever! I did check my latest comments to look for the one that I left on that page but for some reason I didn't see it right away. Will check out the other sites you gave. :-)

I've had bad problems with Hotels.com. You will get the worst room at the location, usually and I've had reservations lost by them or the place overbooks or moves us to another room (ie: a single for two people!) and then Hotels does nothing to rectify the issue. Unless it is a screaming great deal, I wouldn't trust them at all with European bookings. These things happened to me in the US and it was hard enough to find alternative lodging here! Go with oneof the other more reputable places if you can. The other sites mentioned are pretty great. I also recommend www.hotelclub.net (best rates available within 60 days prior to your arrival) and also the cheapo Europe airline websites like RyanAir and EasyJet, et al. You don't have to book a flight to book hotels on these websites. Good stuff. Good luck!
