It isn't compulsory. People don't 'go to the beaches' naked, they take their clothes off when they are there. It is a matter of personal choice. Clearly, those who find it embarrassing would not do it.

Exactly. No one forces you to go there. And it is a cultural matter. If you don't see nudity as something wrong, you don't feel embarrased.
