My wife and I will be visiting Rio for 3 days in March for Carnival. Accommodations are not a problem because we will be on a cruise ship. I have been checking the websites of ticket sellers and must admit I was surprised at the cost of some of the tickets. We've decided to go to Carnival on the evening of Monday March 3rd. I would really appreciate any suggestions on which section might be best, the best way to get there from the port, what time should we figure on getting there, and what to do after the show. Just a little background: we are seniors on a budget, we are well travelled and adventurous and enjoy mixing with locals wherever we go. Having said that it would be unlikely that we'd be staying up much after 2.00am. Any suggestions and recommendations anyone can give us would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance !!
Hi! I am looking at buying a bus ticket on costaverdetransportes.com.br... to go from Paraty to GRU (Sao Paulo), but when I try to buy the ticket, I am asked to create an account with a CPF number. How do I buy a ticket if I don't have a CPF number?
I'll visit Paraty and need to transfer to Sao Paulo GRU airport on Jan3rd.2014.I will be carrying a big back pack. So, I am looking for an easy and not expensive way of transport. What options do we have for it? Thanks.

Hi there! Planning a trip to Rio de Janeiro (and possibly Paraty just down the coast) for February or March. We reviewed the recommended immunizations for Brazil, and the CDC recommends Typoid and Hepatitis A vaccines. Does anyone know what the risk is of these diseases if we either 1) stay in Rio the whole trip, or 2) stay in Rio most of the trip, then head to Paraty on the coast for a couple of days? My boyfriend has a rare auto-immune disorder that makes vaccines risky (can cause paralysis, which one did when he was a child). Anyone have any thoughts? I am hoping the risk for these diseases is in the Amazon or very rural areas, and we can avoid it by washing our hands and now eating street food or uncoked foods.
How concerned should I be about crimes against american tourists...Should I even be going???
Hello, Im thinking of staying in Flamengo for 2 weeks, is it easy to travel to other areas such as Copacabana etc.
im travelling alone and im planning on spending a week between buzios, arraial do cabo and ilha grande, are there ferries from arraial do cabo to ilha grande?
I'm going to Rio next week as part of a group of 4. I am struggling to convince the others about the merits of going to a favela, despite picking what seems to be one of the safest in Santa Marta and all the wonderful reviews and articles it has prompted (that they are safe, interesting and morally acceptable). A backup option could be the cable car over the Alemao favela which means you don't have to go through the streets of a favela and get a great view, but are in a confined space with locals and no guide (plus your fee does not help the community I think).
Our travel agent has found a trusted SM tour for us but I'd like some first hand experience of these two options if anyone has been, particularly with regards to safety, enjoyment and the ability to take photos (I have a DSLR). Did you get to see the painted favela on the SM tour? Is Bonusecco a safe enough place to go to if we take a taxi/train directly to and from the station?
We will be travelling back to the UK in 4 weeks time with BA through Terminal 1 Galeao airport and are there for about 5 hours. With all the building work at the airport are there any airport lounges still open airside in Terminal 1 that we can payt to get in?
I would like to meet women my age 40-50

We are supposed to be staying on Ihla Grande from Tuesday 5th November 2013 for 9 days until the 14th.
But we are really worried by the weather reports we are seeing - all the reports indicate rain or thunder storms every day of our stay.
Are these reports accurate? Should we change our travel plans?
Thanks in advance for your help and advice.

I am a 23 and travelling alone. Where should I stay on the island if I want to do some partying?
When do official tickets go on sale?
Hello, I intend to travel from Iguazu to Rio and consider also taking the bus. It would take around 24hrs and arrives Rio by daylight in the afternoon.
Do you have any experiences about travelling by overnight buses concerning safety? Is it a good idea to travel with an interstate bus to Rio (eg. hold up robbery)?
Thanks for your response,
I am making plans to submit my application for a permanent retirement VISA, to the Brazilian Consulate in Miami. Upon acceptance of my documents at the consulate; Does anyone know approximately how long the process takes . I checked online and it just says approximately 10 days, after approval from the Ministry.
Thank you in advance, James Williams

I'm planning on going to Rio De Janeiro from the US for about 4-5 days. I was wondering how much money I should bring? I was thinking bout $200-$300, I'm pretty going to be doing some sight seeing, maybe hit a bar for a drink or 2, eat, relax & pick up a souvenir or 2 for myself. Places I'm planning on visiting are Cristo Redentor, Sugar Loaf Mountain, Tijuca Forest & hit up the beach in Ipanema. Thanks in advance.
