Hi all, My friend and I will be in the Yucatan for 2 weeks in March/ April. The rough route we have so far: Cancun - Chichen Itza - Merida - Campeche - Palenque - San Cristobal - then back towards Cancun staying at either Playa del Carmen or Isla Mujeres. (We know we will probably have to cut something out to fit if into 2 weeks but this is just a rough idea) Can anyone suggest a good final place to stay near Cancun that has good beaches? Also if you have any advice on the rest if the itinerary feel free to comment! Thanks in advance.
There are so many good places to stay near Cancus Beach.

>> probably have to cut something out to fit yes, probably you have.. as alternative to beaches you can try a Cenote's experience.

Just checked out some of the cenote experiences - looks good, thanks! The reason why we're looking for some alternatives to Cancun is because we are trying to find somewhere a bit quieter and less resorty - if that's possible!

You should definitely find a nice cenote. I recommend popping across to Isla Mujeres and literally just returning to Cancun for the purpose of leaving :-) In 2 weeks - are you driving? You shouldn't miss Uxmal and the Puuc Route. Also, I really like Dzibilichaltun.

We weren't planning on driving. We were hoping to mostly take buses but we've heard mixed reviews about how safe they are at night. Any advice?

We did a 8-day Yucatan vacation last year - shorter than yours, but instructive. Flew into Cancun, then out to Chichen Itza, then to Mayapan, Loltun Caves, Labna, Sayil and Uxmal. Then to Merida, and east to Dzitnup Cenote, Coba and Tulum. Ended up at a Condo Hotel in Playa. email me for a write-up I did on another travel site: rickhowe@aol.com
