Balancnche caves

Hi there I'm spending one night at Valladolid then heading to Chichen early in the morning. I want to spend the next night in Merida.. can I fit in these caves after visiting Chichen? How can I do that by public transport.. The day before Chichen, am spending one dayin Valladolid.. should I head out of town to visit these caves? Can anyone tell me how to do this by public transport. Thank you all.
